Face is the perception of a person's mind and is an important channel of a person's identity. Any abnormality in the face leads to decreased self-esteem of a person. Many syndromes and congenital disorders affect this region of the human body. One such condition which greatly affects the appearance of the face and also sometimes causing functional disturbances is fibrous dysplasia of the craniofacial region. A proper understanding of the disease is required for its appropriate management. This article helps to understand the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical, histologic, radiologic features, and various treatment options available for its management.
Aim: The aim of this study was to compare the effect of Myo-inositol plus diet and diet alone in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus. Materials and methods: A Randomized Prospective study was carried out in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus patients to evaluate the efficacy of Myoinositol+diet vs Diet alone in the department of Gynaecology, Durgabhai Deshmukh Hospital, a 300 bedded multispecialty hospital from September 2018-April 2019.OGTT test was conducted to measure blood glucose levels. Results: Among the total number of patients (60), Myoinositol + diet is given in 50% and diet is given in 50% of the patients. Among 30 patients on diet, 19 patients couldn’t control rising blood glucose levels and were prescribed insulin for reduction of blood glucose levels. Among 30 patients on myoinositol+ diet, 4 patients couldn’t control 1 hr blood glucose levels and were prescribed insulin to control blood glucose levels. Conclusion: This study showed that Myoinositol + diet is effective than only diet with respect to decrease in blood glucose levels and safety among patients with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus. Therefore, we conclude that myoinositol + diet is safe and effective in reducing fasting and 2hr blood glucose levels.
For 20 years she had been suffering from sudden falls without loss of conciousness 3-4 times a month after which she could not move her body for approximately 30 seconds following a a complete recovery in 10 minutes. Sometimes these episodes were triggered by emotions. She experienced excessive daytime sleepiness, but had trouble sleeping at night and was subjected to sleep paralysis with hypnagogic and hypnopompic hallucinations especially when waking up in the morning or during the night.A hypothesis of narcolepsy with cataplexy (NT1) was presented.The following investigations were performed: electroencephalogram and magnetic resonance imaging of the brain revealed no abnormalities. Lumbar puncture showed no signs of infection. Levels of CSF hypocretin on the other hand were decreased (82 pg/ml). NT1 is characterized by a low hypocretin level (b110 pg/ml). She tested positive for both narcolepsy related HLA allels DQB1*06:02 and DQA1*01:02. She was diagnosed with narcolepsy type 1. She was prescribed 200 mg modafinil and 150 mg venlafaxine daily. That has been reducing her daytime sleepiness, cataplexy and sleep paralysis.
