DXAZF~AM,~ a new psychotherapeutic agent of the benzodiazepine class, was synthesized by Sternbach and Beeder. x It has an action qualitatively similar to that of chlordiazepoxide to which it is chemically closely related (Fig. 1). It is a colourless crystalline compound, insoluble in water. The injectable solution is yellowish and supplied in 2 ml. ampoules containing 10 rag.; the pH approximates 6.8 at 20 ~ C. Mixing this diazepan solution with distilled water, normal saline, or 5 per cent dextrose in water causes visible precipitation and cloudiness. This does not seem to decrease the potency of the drug.
