The effects of temperature (26, 30, 35, 40° C) and moisture contents (10, 20, 30%) on toxicity of 2.37 ppm of thimet and lindane were investigated. Thimet had a positive temperature coefficient against prepupae and pupae of the cotton leaf worm Spodoptera littoralis, while lindane showed a negative temperature coefficient. Differences in mortalities due to thimet at different degrees of temperature were highly significant in contrast to lindane that induced insignificant differences in mortalities as indicated by the analysis of variences. The prepupae were more sensitive to increase in temperature than the pupae. Toxicities of both lindane and thimet at 20% moisture content were generally higher than at 30% but the differences were not statistically significant. Zusammenfassung Studien über Bodeninsektizide. Wirkungen von Boden‐Temperatur und ‐Feuchtigkeit auf die Bioaktivität von Bodeninsektiziden Es wurden die Wirkungen der Temperatur (26, 30, 35, 40° C) und der Bodenfeuchte (10, 20, 30%) auf die Toxizität von 2,37 ppm Thimet und Lindan gegenüber Vorpuppen und Puppen der Baumwolleule, Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd.) untersucht. Bei beiden Stadien nahm die Mortalität durch Thimet mit der Temeratur zu, jene durch Lindan ab. Die Wirkungsunterschiede von Thimet bei verschiedener Temperatur waren im Gegensatz zu Lindan hochsignifikant. Die Vorpuppen erwiesen sich als empfindlicher gegenüber ansteigender Temperatur als die Puppen. Die Toxizität beider Insektizide war bei 20 % Bodenfeuchte im allgemeinen höher als bei 30 %, doch konnten diese Unterschiede nicht gesichert werden.
