The paper was aimed to uncover the issues encountered on Halal Food Product labelling to prevent the misuse of Islamic attributes in food products labelling and to ensure the appropriate trademarks, terms, and label used on the packaging and marketing strategy. The method used for this conceptual paper was from literature reviews from journal articles, thesis, proceedings and conferences, books, and online news, which are related to the keywords and research area. Trademarks and labels are among the crucial elements in marketing, which enable the consumer to differentiate the quality, the ingredients and will affect the consumers’ buying choice. Recently there is a trend of using Islamic attributes in food product labelling as trademarks to attract Muslim consumers. The issues encountered on halal food product labelling are the use of Quranic verses on the drink, the term “Sunnah food”, using Islamic terms such as “Masjid”, “Mukmin”, and others in food products’ trademark and label. The consumers were deceived into thinking that these products have extra benefits as compared to others due to Islamic attributes they have. Thus, there is a need for an in-depth study on these issues since there is no clear and specific guideline on this matter.
ABSTRAK Tujuan kajian ini adalah untuk menganalisis struktur wakaf korporat di dalam "Wakaf Selangor Muamalat" yang telah dilaksanakan melalui kerjasama di antara Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor (PWS) dan Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad (BMMB).Perkembangan semasa aktiviti wakaf adalah penglibatan aktif entiti korporat di dalam aspek pengurusan dan pembangunan harta-harta wakaf. Fenomena ini berkait rapat dengan konsep wakaf tunai yang semakin popular dan menjadi medium paling mudah umat Islam melaksanakan aktiviti-aktiviti wakaf dengan menggunakan wang tunai, berlainan dengan kaedah wakaf semasa yang melibatkan tanah dan bangunan (Magda 2009). Kecenderungan syarikat-syarikat korporat melibatkan diri di dalam aspek pengurusan dan pembangunan aset wakaf yang turut dikenali sebagai wakaf korporat secara tidak langsung menunjukkan etika terpuji dunia korporat yang tidak hanya berfokuskan kepada kegiatan yang bersifat keuntungan semata-mata. Kebanyakan syarikatsyarikat terlibat di dalam program-program wakaf yang melibatkan pendidikan, kesihatan dan pengurusan hartanah wakaf. Kegiatan seperti ini adalah sebahagian daripada tanggungjawab sosial korporat (CSR) entiti korporat. Institusi wakaf dapat mengambil manfaat tentang aspekaspek tadbir urus terbaik, akauntabiliti dan transparensi dunia korporat di dalam pengurusan dan pentadbiran asetaset wakaf terutamanya wakaf tunai yang memerlukan pengalaman dan kepakaran tersebut.Jika ditinjau dari aspek sejarah, institusi-institusi wakaf terutamanya pada zaman kegemilangan Empayar Uthmaniyyah mempunyai peranan yang amat besar di dalam membiayai pembinaan kemudahan-kemudahan awam bagi manfaat masyarakat (Cizakca 2011; Magda 2013). Pelbagai fasiliti awam seperti jalan raya, jambatan, sekolah dan hospital dibiayai oleh dana-dana wakaf tanpa melibatkan peruntukan daripada kerajaan. Ianya juga memberikan peluang pekerjaan kepada golongan muda dan membantu meningkatkan sosio-ekonomi umat Islam. Extremism is an emerging threat confronted by the Muslim world today manifested in the form of a group such as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) or al-Dawlah al-Islamiyyah fi al-‘Iraq wa al-Sham (DAESH). Undoubtedly, the existence of ISIS and its violence gave negative impacts on Islam and the Muslim ummah worldwide. What is more concerning is that some Muslims in Malaysia were also influenced by ISIS and by so doing it poses threat to our national security. Thus, based on the textual analysis of ISIS document, this article seeks to examine the discourse of tawhid advocated by ISIS, considering the fact that every act committed by Muslims is usually rooted in his or her belief system. To do this, this article focuses on the discourse of tawhid as discussed in DABIQ magazine and it is chosen due to its significance since it is regarded as ISIS mouthpiece to spread its propaganda. Based on the analysis, the article identifies five key elements that constitute ISIS discourse of tawhid, namely (i) the ideological strand of Salafi-Wahabi, (ii) three divisions of tawhid, (iii) tawhid al-Wala’ wa al-Bara’, (iv) tawhid al-Hakimiyyah, and (v) takfirism. The analysis also concludes that ISIS tawhid is not consistent with the mainstream framework of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama‘ah and thus it should be repudiated.
