Logic is a science of knowledge, tool or introductory medium that discusses methods on accuracy and systematic way of thinking. It is widely used in various fields of knowledge, including in Islamic studies. Nonetheless, there are disputes among the Muslim community regarding this subject derived from scholars’ disagreement between accepting and rejecting it. This polemic has created a state of disharmony within the circle of discussion through the efforts of defending their judgments. Through the content analysis method, this article examines the attitude of the scholars of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama‘ah towards the science of logic. This article also studies the influence of logic in Islamic discourse to get a comprehensive overview. This study shows that logic holds an important position in Islamic thoughts considering that it is utilized to defend Islam and to strengthen the beliefs. Thus, scholarly judgments that uphold the study of logic as a must and required are considered more accurate and also compatible with current demand.
Moral values are important to be translated in daily life especially by Muslim individuals. Among the benefits is to be able to avoid a person from acts such as cheating, treason, deviation, corruption, money politics and the like. The values that are important to the Muslim individual will be elaborated based on the thinking of Abu Hamid al-Ghazali (d. 505H) through some of his selected books, especially the book Ihya ‟ʻUlum al-Din. This paper will conclude that among the important values of the Muslim individual according to al-Ghazali can be seen in his description of the terms al-ikhlas, al-sidq, al-amanah as well as al-mas ‟uliyyah and al-kamal. Nilai-nilai akhlak adalah penting untuk diterjemahkan dalam kehidupan seharian khususnya oleh individu Muslim. Antara kebaikannya ialah dapat mengelakkan diri seseorang itu dari perbuatan seperti menipu, khianat, menyeleweng, rasuah, politik wang dan seumpamanya. Nilai-nilai yang penting untuk individu Muslim tersebut akan dihuraikan berdasarkan pemikiran Abu Hamid al-Ghazali (m. 505H) menerusi beberapa kitabnya yang terpilih, terutamanya kitab Ihya’ `Ulum al-Din. Makalah ini akan menyimpulkan bahawa antara nilai-nilai penting individu Muslim menurut al-Ghazali boleh dilihat pada huraiannya terhadap istilah al-ikhlas, al-sidq, al-amanah serta al-mas’uliyyah dan al-kamal. Katakunci: Nilai-nilai, al-ikhlas (keikhlasan), al-sidq (benar), al-amanah (amanah), al-mas’uliyyah (bertanggungjawab) dan al-kamal (kesempurnaan).
Khulasah Pendalilan akal berasaskan ilmu mantik merupakan salah satu sumber penting dalam membahaskan persoalan akidah, selain daripada sumber utama al-Qur'an dan Hadith. Kedudukan dalil akal diiktiraf oleh ulama Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah kerana ia berkemampuan untuk menghasilkan keyakinan sehingga terbentuk keimanan kepada Allah SWT. Salah satu bentuk pendalilan akal dalam perbahasan akidah ialah al-qiyas yang meliputi al-qiyas al-usuli dan al-qiyas al-mantiqi. Sorotan menunjukkan berlaku polemik kerana timbulnya salah faham tentang persamaan dan perbezaan kedua-dua bentuk al-qiyas tersebut, bahkan tidak kurang yang menyangka bahawa al-qiyas al-usuli hanya untuk fikah, manakala al-qiyas al-mantiqi pula untuk akidah sahaja. Menerusi kaedah analisis kandungan dokumen, tulisan ini akan meneliti konsep serta kedudukan al-qiyas alusuli dan al-qiyas al-mantiqi dalam pendalilan akidah, sama ada kedua-duanya boleh digunakan dalam perbahasan akidah atau sebaliknya.
