This study analyzed the predictors of job burnout and the sociodemographic variables effect of job boredom in the banking industry of Puerto Rico. It sought to examine if a group of employees experiences the same after-effects of job burnout and the effects of the sociodemographic variables job boredom based on previous research of various countries in the banking sector, since there are no studies conducted in Puerto Rico. The sample was made up of 223 employees from a private bank in Puerto Rico, of which 70.9 % were women, 40.8% were 41 years old and older, and 66.8% holds a non-exempt job position. This study followed a quantitative casualcorrelation cross-sectional design and had a probabilistic sample. A hierarchical multiple regression analysis was used to measure the independent predictors, and the results show that only three control measures were statistically significant with the variable sex recording a lower level beta value than the emotional exhaustion dimension, while the emotional exhaustion was statistically significantly higher than the depersonalization dimension. The logistic regression shows that both sexes experienced boredom and burnout.
Many clinical patients may experience unpleasant customer satisfaction in hospitals and other health facilities when receiving medical treatment. However, patient satisfaction may be measured and noticeable in clinical observations as well as the patient's follow up appointment and treatment provided by nurses and the medical staff. Also, when each patient receives individual attention while integrating a holistic patient care approach can improve the services and customer satisfaction. Hospitals must provide adequate supervision and work with experienced medical staff and management regarding health services, primarily focusing on nursing personnel. Most of the nurses in clinical cases spend more time with aiding patients, and medical care plays an essential role in patient satisfaction. Evaluating patient care satisfaction, some medical facilities and hospitals may not take into consideration that patient satisfaction is an indicator of quality and control. Care satisfaction may help to determine health-care delivery and performance and other health system awareness, especially paying attention to the nursing staff. Nurses have a vital and direct role in the healthcare of clinical patients.
Background: perceptions of organizational politics have many consequences on work behavior. Therefore, organizational politics has gained an interest in research examining the influential factors and behaviors in which organizations operate over the past few years. Objectives: this work aims to explore and present the psychometric properties of the Perceptions of Organizational Politics Scale adapted version. Method: a quantitative study of cross-sectional and instrumental type design in a sample of 205 participants representing public and private working sectors in Puerto Rico and the analysis carried out to verify the factorial structure of the scale and the reliability and validity indicators. Results: the Confirmatory Factor Analysis with Structural Equation Modeling showed better fit indices and a three-factor structure according to the original scale and obtained optimal internal consistency values for each factor. Conclusion: this study provides an instrument for both researchers and professionals to study the phenomenon of organizational politics in the workplace and organizations and allows them to contribute new studies and literature in Puerto Rico.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
