In EFL context, there is a considerable shift from single word lexical items to phraseology. Idioms constitute a core part in the phraseology block of the language. Idioms, in spite of their variety and cultural roots, are one of the most neglected areas in EFL perspective. Non-native learners of English as a foreign language do not feel motivated to use idiomatic resources of the language creatively. It is also a fact that pedagogy of idioms to EFL learners has been a challenging task for non-native teachers of the English language. The undertaken research is an effort to establish the utility of the entomological background of idioms in EFL class.
It is an established fact that the progress of any nation is not determined only by the material prosperity of its inhabitants rather one of the yardsticks, in this regard, is the lasting peace and tranquility, that its inhabitants enjoy. All the benefits of the material prosperity are marred by the absence of peace. One of the solid reasons to threaten the fabric of peace among societies and nations is the violation of civil human rights. When the individuals of a society feel threats to their rights, then anarchy comes into existence and destroys the very peaceful fabric of society. Factions of society become intolerant to one another. There starts a clash of cultures and ideologies. Different societies have been practicing various stoical philosophies to create peace among its individuals bit in so far as, they have not been successful in spite of its tremendous enlightm-ent. The undertaken research is an attempt, in this regard, to highlight the multi dimensional preaching of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in promoting peace among religions and societies. The undertaken study establishes that only the true adherence with the holy prophet’s (PBUH) preaching of tolerance can promote the lasting peace among religions and cultures.
Purpose of Study: The aim of the study is to identify and build an appropriate learning model for elementary school students that will ensure a quiet learning environment. Methodology: This research used both qualitative and quantitative approaches, as well as research and development techniques. The research was divided into two stages: exploration and experimental studies. Meanwhile, 50 learners, thirteen educational tutors, and six persons from the literacy program administration were chosen for the analysis by purposive sampling. Main Finding: According to the findings of the study, problem-based learning contributed to an increase in literacy in an entrepreneurship literacy program. Research Implication: The study's findings revealed that PBL implementation was anchored in a learning program and learning management. The discovery also aids in the development of the curriculum's learning methodologies, learning resources, learning media, and learning evaluation. Novelty/Originality: It is critical to increase literacy abilities in order to read, write, and assess problems. This research examines and describes the problem-based learning technique for developing literacy competency and assisting readers in improving their reading skills.
This paper analyses the features of American English found in Pakistani English newspapers and accounts for those features quantitatively with reference to British English. Pakistani journalistic English has the tendency to become more Americanized in the recent era. There is a shift from British English to American English in Pakistani newspapers and this brief study aims to show the growing influence of American English on Pakistani English. American English is considered the most influential and powerful variety of English (Kirkpatrick, 2007). The influence of American English in newspaper writing suggests that there is a tendency among the Pakistan English speakers to opt for American English instead of British English particularly at the lexical and grammatical levels. The results indicate that the use of American English is growing rapidly in Pakistan English newspapers. The quantitative findings of the study suggest that although British English is preferred in Pakistani newspapers yet the traces of American English are quite obvious and apparent. The previous studies related to Pakistani English explored the difference between Pakistan and British English at various levels. However, Americanization is Pakistani English is rarely discussed phenomenon. This is less researched area in Pakistani English context and this study aims to fill this gap.
