Abstract. Dental caries is a disease of the hard tissue of the teeth where there is damage to the enamel and dentin, usually due to the interaction of saliva, microorganism products and food, causing tooth demineralization. The Global Burden of Disease Study 2016 Dental caries is experienced by almost half of the world's population, which is around 3.58 billion people and according to the 2018 Riskedas in Indonesia the incidence of dental caries is 88.8%. Many risk factors cause dental caries, one of which is smoking. This research uses a scoping review study to identify, analyze and evaluate scientific writing through Pubmed, Springerlink, and ScienceDirect data sources. From 2,967 articles were filtered based on inclusion criteria into 791 articles, then continued with filtration using the exclusion criteria were obtained 788 articles so that only 3 articles met the eligibility criteria based on PICOS and eligibility test using the JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist summarized in the PRISMA diagram. The analysis result of all articles show that people who smoke have a high incidence of caries marked by an increased DMFT score. The conclusion of this study shows that smoking has a relationship with the occurrence of dental caries.
Abstract. Diabetes Mellitus (DM) type 2 is a serious and chronic disease characterized by high blood glucose levels. The success of DM management is influenced by several factors, including patient compliance in taking medication, which in turn can reduce morbidity and mortality and improve the patient's quality of life. This study aims to determine the relationship between adherence to taking antidiabetic drugs with the quality of life of type 2 DM patients in Garut Regency. This study used an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional design. Spearman rank correlation test was used to analyze the data. Sampling was carried out using purposive sampling and obtained 75 patients with type 2 DM from RSUD Dr. Slamet, Mahesa Medical Center Clinic, and Grand Mosque Clinic. The research instrument used the MMAS-8 questionnaire for medication adherence and the WHOQOL-BREF for quality of life. The results showed that most of the patients had a moderate level of adherence to antidiabetic drug consumption (37.3%) and the patient's quality of life was in the high category (68%). The results of the Spearman rank correlation test p-value of p = 0.000 (<0.05), meaning that there is a significant relationship between adherence to antidiabetic drug consumption and the quality of life of type 2 DM patients, with a correlation value of 0.602. It was concluded that there was a strong relationship between adherence to antidiabetic drug consumption and the quality of life of type 2 DM patients in Garut Regency. The better the adherence to antidiabetic drug consumption, the better the quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Semakin baik kepatuhan konsumsi obat antidiabetik semakin baik kualitas hidup pasien diabetes mellitus tipe 2.
