The Covid-19 pandemic has generated shocks that have caused economic fluctuations globally, calling for an understanding of the behaviour of macroeconomic variables. This study presents an early review of the macroeconomic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic in Nigeria. The aggregate supply and aggregate demand (AS-AD) model provides the theoretical motivation for the study. From the findings, while the number of infected cases reflects significant correlations with economic activity from the perspective of a trend analysis, the estimates from dynamic ordinary least squares (DOLS) show that nexuses between the number of confirmed cases and attendant macroeconomic outcomes are largely insignificant with the expected signs. The study has therefore shown that the Covid-19 pandemic has insignificant negative impacts on basic macroeconomic variables in Nigeria such as inflation, employment, exchange rate, GDP growth, among others. In other words, time is required before the established correlations withstand empirical scrutiny in terms of causality. As the government has engaged the Economic Sustainable Plan (ESP, 2020), which is a post-Covid-19 recovery plan, it is hoped that the attendant policies would be properly implemented so as to provide the critical mass to repositioning the country's economy on the path towards inclusive and sustained economic development.
The study examined the impact of the quality of service delivery on customer satisfaction in the Nigerian banks using Ordinary Least Square (OLS) methodology. The study established a relationship between better banks performance in service delivery and customer satisfaction through effective customer relationship management (CRM). Findings revealed that increase in the number of working days and number of bank branches led to better levels of customer satisfaction. Empirical evidence also revealed that increase in PROFIT margin is a function of improved level of customer satisfaction while number of bank branches (NNB) has a positive but insignificant relationship with customer satisfaction because the spread of branch networks or channels has better effects on customer satisfaction than number of banks. It also emphasized the role of the number of working days in achieving better bank services and profitable customer relationship management. The study thus recommends that the Nigeria banking industry should improve the quality of service delivery as it is a prerequisite for achieving a high level of customer satisfaction.
This study provides an econometric analysis of the role of entrepreneurship in economic growth in Nigeria. The study also assesses the areas where the country has developed enterprise and innovations. Findings from empirical analysis confirm the roles of entrepreneurs as good drivers of economic growth in the country. Specifically, results reveal that credit to SMEs is statistically significant in the determination of economic growth, implying that increase in entrepreneurial financing has significant effect on economic growth in Nigeria. Particularly, the increase in the operations and activities of SMEs in Nigeria remains indispensable to the pursuit of economic growth and development as a nation. However, the major hindrance inhibiting entrepreneurship as a growth driver in Nigeria include; poor infrastructural facilities, inadequate start-up process, financial management problems, lack of strategic planning and other socio-cultural problems. The study recommends building an in-country entrepreneurial capacity by incorporating requisite enterprise trainings and development progammes into the nation's education system at all levels. Also, government, banking institutions and the organized private sector should increase financial support for entrepreneurial oriented initiatives.
