Program Imunisasi COVID-19 Kebangsaan (PICK) telah diperkenalkan bermula pada Febuari 2021 lagi. Sehubungan dengan itu, semua rakyat Malaysia secara sukarela diseru untuk menyertai program tersebut. Namun demikian, kadar pendaftaran PICK diperingkat awal khususnya di bahagian Timur Malaysia (Sabah) kurang mendapat sambutan. Bertitik tolak daripada permasalahan tersebut, kajian ini ingin mengenalpasti tahap keberkesanan PICK di Sabah. Dalam pada itu, kajian ini turut meneliti faktor penolak dan penarik yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan program terbabit. Maka dengan itu, seramai 1024 responden telah ditemubual secara dalam talian (google form) dan secara bersemuka menggunakan borang soal selidik. Data mentah yang diperolehi dianalisis secara diskriptif menggunakan Min dan frekuensi. Analisis kajian mendapati tahap Keberkesanan Program Imunisasi COVID-19 Kebangsaan di Sabah adalah pada tahap sederhana dengan nilai indeks petunjuk keberkesanan sebanyak 66.67 peratus. Selain itu, analisis kajian turut mendapati kelemahan media perdana merupakan salah satu faktor utama menyebabkan wujudnya ketidakyakinan masyarakat Sabah menyertai PICK. Walaupun begitu, proses pendaftaran yang mudah dan jaminan terhadap kehalalan vaksin merupakan faktor pendorong (penarik) kepada keberhasilan program tersebut.
This paper explores the use of social media among Malaysians during the Covid-19 pandemic. Questionnaires were distributed to 424 people in Malaysia who were directly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The research findings revealed that the main reasons that drove people to use social media were cognitive aspects, escapism, affective factors, and social integration. The data also shows that Malaysians frequently employed social media to search for information, for diversion purposes, and due to habit. Meanwhile, the highest levels of gratifications were derived from factors of convenience, surveillance, and interpersonal discussion. This study concludes that social media plays a crucial role for Malaysians while confronting the Covid-19 pandemic, alongside other media components. It cannot be denied that technology also influenced uses and gratifications among the audiences. The uniqueness of social media, coupled with the smartphone, gives it a distinct advantage over other media forms. The audiences had at their disposal a multitude of information that could bring numerous usages and forms of gratifications.
This is a conceptual paper that attempts to show that social media can improve the academic performance of university students. The study assumes that it is interesting to investigate the impact of social media on university students' academic performance, given the explosion in the number and use of social media sites worldwide. In addition, social media offers new opportunities to engage learners and teachers and can also be used in face-to-face, blended and e-learning settings. This paper highlights the benefits of using social media for effective communication between lecturers and students, and students and fellow students during the online teaching and learning process. Interestingly, the literature in this area also highlights the benefits and risks of using social media in teaching and learning. The findings of the study will also be useful for academics, researchers and policy makers in the context of innovations in teaching and learning.
Pola penggunaan portal berita dalam kalangan remaja di Sabah merupakan sesuatu yang menarik untuk diselidiki memandangkan industri portal berita yang kian berkembang. Kajian ini mempersembahkan pola kegunaan dan kepuasan portal berita daripada tinjauan ke atas 300 orang remaja Kadazandusun Sabah yang berpandukan kepada Teori Kegunaan dan Kepuasan (U&G). Hasil dapatan kajian mendapati keperluan kognitif, keperluan penyepaduan diri dan keperluan penyepaduan sosial merupakan keperluan utama penggunaan portal berita dalam kalangan remaja Kadazandusun. Data juga menunjukkan remaja Kadazandusun kerap menggunakan portal berita untuk tujuan pembelajaran, pencarian maklumat dan hiburan. Sementara itu, kepuasan yang paling tinggi diperoleh remaja ini adalah mudah, interaktiviti dan pengawasan. Kajian mendapati bahawa dalam fenomena kaya media pada hari ini, portal berita sentiasa memainkan peranan penting dan diterima dengan baik dalam kalangan remaja Kadazandusun di Sabah khususnya. Pattern on news portal usage among Kadazandusun teenagers in Sabah is an intriguing subject to study as the news portal industries in Sabah itself has tremendously bloomed. This study present finding from survey of 300 Kadazandusun teenagers in Sabah based on uses and gratification theory (U&G). The findings found that cognitive needs, social integrative needs and personal integrative needs are the most important in news portal usage among Kadazandusun teenagers. In addition, data suggest that news portal are used primarily as learning, information searching and entertainment. Meanwhile, the highest gratification derived are easy, interactivity and surveillance. This study concludes that in a media rich environment, the news portal has kept its functional role and well accepted among Kadazandusun teenagers in Sabah.
The ability of a tertiary institution to pursue academic studies and research during the pandemic and now endemic covid-19 is a measure of the strength of the university or college in facing the biggest test of this decade. Thus, various measures and approaches have been taken by the university management, especially in ensuring the momentum of study operations and even research at the university does not stop just like that. However, the biggest challenge seen and felt by all parties including students as the most important stakeholders is the online teaching and learning mechanism. Similarly, research planning and the ability of researchers are seen as very critical, especially in the success of data collection activities with the community and matters related to the study location. This meta-synthesis study potrayed the continuous efforts of the university in adapting and at the same time maintaining the quality of knowledge and skills taught are so significant and become the reason for the development of academic activities in crisis situations especially covid-19 pandemic. Studies from 2020 to 2021 were referred specifically to review teaching and learning situations as well as research during pandemics and endemics show that academics and researchers have an optimistic and dynamic attitude in adapting their respective teaching and research approaches.
