Process of science learning stresses on giving students direct experience to develop their competence. Therefore, teachers are required to be creative and innovative to improve students’ critical thinking. Accordingly, there is a need for a research on “The science learning based on guided inquiry integration with Numbered Heads Together (NHT) toward critical thinking skill”. This research aim to figure out of influence of the science learning based on guided inquiry integration with NHT. This research is a quasi-experimental study, with design "non-equivalent group control design". This research was conducted at September-December 2018 with samples of the experimental class (n = 40) and the control class (n = 40) at class VIII SMP N 21 Pekanbaru. The research instrument consisted of questions to test students' critical thinking skills. This shows the research instrument at a good and quality stage. The results of this study note that there are significant differences in the average value of the Post test students' critical thinking skills between the experimental class amounted to 75.00 with the control class 67.00 after the intervention (P <0.05). So that the use of Integration of guided inquiry with NHT in the learning process can improve students' critical thinking skills.
Teaching media is one essential factor that influences the success of teaching process. Therefore, this study was aimed to develop a science learning module namely BIOMIND Module in the form of portal and e-book. The study used research and development (R&D) method to create BIOMIND module developed from Hanafin and Peck model. The study involved five professionals, 20 teachers, and 98 students to assess the BIOMIND module. The results show that BIOMIND portal and e-book teaching media could be standardized and implemented for the teaching process. The existence of teaching media evaluation instrument was expected to develop a quality teaching media for innovative and efficient teaching and learning process.
In an organization, the availability of qualified staff is equivalent to the quality of the human resources and their outputs in the organization. This study aimed to analyze the professionalism of staffs in the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, UIN SUSKA Riau. This study is essential because all system and processes in the faculty have been done by the staffs to achieve the vision and missions of the university. The study used a mixed method to triangulate data, where the qualitative ones explained the quantitative data. There were 43 respondents participated in the study, comprised of 20 (46.50%) males and 23 (53.50%) females. The instruments were validated in a pilot project, where the instruments' reliability was assessed. The results show that the Cronbach's alpha value reached 0.924, which means the instruments were excellent to be used in the study. There was no significant difference between the staffs' professionalism based on their gender (p>0.01). We expected that the study results provide a suggestion for future staff recruitment in the faculty to be based on skills and proficiency, not on gender.
