For this reason, the number of cutters cannot be the same in all cutting lines and will increase as the distance of cutting line from the center of geokhod to the periphery. The variability of possible schemes with different numbers of cutters leads to the problem of determining the rational number of cutters in the cutting lines on the Geokhod's cutting drum. The definition of a rational number of cutters based on the comparison of structural and kinematic parameters for the various schemes, including identified parameters having the greatest influence on the selection of a rational solution.

The article considers the question of determining the possible dimensions of the outer grooves of different diameters Geokhods. Taking into account rock properties and destination of outer elements of Geokhod set the height of the outer grooves. The thickness of the outer element is determined by the conditions of their required strength. The set values can be used to develop circuit solutions of outer cutting drums of Geokhod.
During the destruction of rocks by disc cutters the question of their operation without water cooling is arising. To implement this an approach to determining the temperature of the disk cutter is considered in the article. The calculations of heating of the disc cutter with various geometric parameters (diameter, sharpening angles, blunting edge radius) and geological conditions under different cutting conditions (cutting depth) are presented. The disc cutter temperature and comparison with a critical one is given. The results allow to increase wear resistance and thereby determine the modes of operation in which forced cooling of the cutting disc is not required.
