This is a qualitative evaluation study, which elaborated and validated the logic model of the School Health Program. Data collection occurred in meetings with seven administration officers in a participative manner, using a script with open questions.
The study aims to show the origin of the term school nurse and the trajectory of this specialty in the Brazilian nursing. Our objective is to argue about the new spaces of performance of the nurse. We use as methodology a qualitative approach, in view of the practice of the nurse in an Elementary School and the identification and analysis of theoretical elements gotten in the bibliographical surveys related to the issue of health promotion. In the results we demonstrate that the presence of the nurses in the school is determinative in attention to the processes of health promotion, when they stimulate technician debates, present their perspective in relation to the processes of health and illness, besides strengthening the social relationships between professionals of education and health.
