The quick development of information and communication technologies has made the countries using these technologies a step forward in the global competition. Thanks to the contributions of the public, private sector and non-governmental organizations all over the world since the beginning of the 1990s, there has been considerable progress in reaching the information society. The age we live in is called the information age. In this society where knowledge becomes power, a lot is expected from individuals. There is a need for individuals who can reach the information themselves, question the information they obtain, use them in line with their needs, and have the ability to think scientifically. In this study, analysis of written documents was used. In this respect, the analysis of written documents and documents is an information gathering method used in the qualitative research to support the information obtained both on its own and the interview and observation.
As a result of studies examining individual differences in temporal perception and the relationship of these differences with sustainable behavior, it has been observed that long-term perception predicts participation in pro-environmental attitudes and sustainable consumption behaviors. In this study, the relationship between the differences in future perceptions and sustainable consumption behaviors was examined in terms of individuals residing in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). In order to test this relationship, “Sustainable Consumption Behaviors” scale and CFC (Consideration of Future Consequences) scale were used. Since the normality assumption of the data could not be achieved, it was decided to use nonparametric tests. As a result of the analysis of the data, collected from 319 participants who were accessed online, it was found a statistically significant but a weak relationship between "Perception Tendency of the Future" and "Sustainable Consumption Behaviors". While no statistically significant relationship was found between the "Short-Term Thinking Tendency" subscale and "Sustainable Consumption Behaviors", it was found that the "Long-Term Thinking Tendency" subscale had a statistically significant relationship with "Sustainable Consumption Behaviors". In line with this finding, it was determined that those who tend to think long-term do their consumption behavior by taking sustainability into account compared to the group who thinks short-term. In addition, it has been determined that there is a noticeable difference between those who do sports and those who never do, and in this context, those who do sports differ significantly in terms of environmental awareness, unnecessary purchasing and sustainable consumption behaviors compared to those who do not do sports. It has been determined that the importance given to healthy eating is significantly related to long-term thinking, similarly, as the importance given to healthy nutrition increases, consumption becomes more environmentally friendly, and as the importance given to healthy nutrition decreases, consumption behavior that takes into account sustainability is abandoned.
Health literacy is one of the areas most affected by advances in information technologies. The desperation of states around the world in the COVID-19 epidemic that emerged in early 2020 has increased the importance of the issue further. The problems faced by states in preventing the spread of the epidemic and directing their citizens make it necessary for people to increase their awareness of health issues. In this research, it is aimed to determine the health literacy levels of individuals living in the TRNC. In this context, 32-item health literacy scale (Turkey Health Literacy Scale-32) developed by Okyay, Abacıgil and Hagan (2013) was used. Data from 203 subjects in the study were collected and subjected to analysis. As a result of the analysis of the data, it was determined that the overall score increase for health literacy was 3.71 out of 5 (74 out of 100), the participants were in the "adequate" class in the assessment of health-related information and in the "excellent" class in other dimensions. While the level of health literacy did not differ depending on gender, marital status and the mode of action exhibited in the state of being ill, it was concluded that there was a statistically significant difference depending on the importance given to healthy nutrition and sports/exercise and satisfaction with health services.
