This study was aimed at looking at teaching tools and materials (ABM / BBM) used by lecturers in implementing student-centered learning at institutions of higher learning. In this study, the implementation of a student-centered approach is only seen in one Malay language course. This study involved a Malay language lecturer as the main research participant, while the students involved during the learning process during the study were also made informants. The findings show that there are a variety of ABM / BBM used by lecturers for the purpose of promoting active involvement of students following the learning session. However, in order to ensure that the learning process takes place more smoothly in line with the development of the 21st century pedagogy and to address the challenges of Education 4.0, lecturers are advised to be more aware of the latest technology developments so that ABM / BBM can be used in class in line with world development education is now inseparable with technological developments.
Failure to master the basic skills of reading, writing and Counting (3M) among primary school pupils in the country is still ongoing. The performance gap of the 3M skills mastery between mainstream pupils and remedial pupils remains noticeable. The Failure of some teachers to implement remedial programs resulting in students being left behind in the learning proses. This study aims to explore the most effective language learning strategy (LLS) practices to master the reading skills for the Malay language subjects in Year 1 special remedial program in primary school students. This qualitative study uses case study design. This study uses the Searchlight Model. A special remedial teacher and a total of 20 special remedial students from a primary school in the northern Kinta district, Perak was selected by the state. Data review is obtained through observations, document review, and interviews. Data is analyzed using a continuous method of analysis. Reading skills are the main focus of research participants, the study will be able to contribute to the remedial education in mastering of Malay reading skills to provide the most effective exposure of the LLS practices in remedial teacher teaching by discovering the teaching Model of a remedial teacher.
Kemahiran membaca merupakan kemahiran asas Bahasa Melayu yang perlu dikuasai oleh setiap murid di Malaysia. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti penguasaan kemahiran membaca Bahasa Melayu murid bukan penutur jati di Bintulu, Sarawak dengan memberikan fokus terhadap asas pembacaan Bahasa Melayu murid bukan penutur jati, tahap kefahaman membaca murid bukan penutur jati terhadap teks naratif dan strategi pengajaran yang dapat membantu murid bukan penutur jati untuk meningkatkan kemahiran membaca dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Melayu. Responden kajian terdiri daripada 10 orang murid bukan penutur jati di salah sebuah sekolah menengah luar bandar yang terletak di Bintulu, Sarawak. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif menerusi kaedah kajian kes. Pengutipan data menerusi kajian lapangan dengan menggunakan teknik temu bual dan teknik pemerhatian digunakan untuk proses mengutip data. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan terdapat masalah dalam diri murid bukan penutur jati ini untuk menguasai kemahiran membaca dalam Bahasa Melayu, misalnya salah membunyikan huruf-huruf tertentu, tidak memahami petikan naratif yang diberikan dan tidak mengetahui kepentingan kemahiran membaca Bahasa Melayu. Tujuh daripada sepuluh responden kurang menguasai asas bacaan dengan baik manakala dua daripada sepuluh responden tidak memahami petikan naratif yang diberikan. Selain itu, tiga daripada sepuluh responden menunjukkan mereka tidak pasti tentang kepentingan kemahiran membaca terhadap diri mereka. Pendekatan pengajaran berpusatkan murid merupakan satu kaedah yang dilihat dapat membantu meningkatkan potensi murid-murid bukan penutur jati yang mengalami masalah dalam kemahiran membaca. Implikasi kajian menunjukkan bahawa guru bukan sahaja perlu mengajar murid agar mereka dapat menguasai teknik menjawab soalan peperiksaan dengan baik malah perlu mengajar murid berkaitan dengan kefahaman bacaan supaya mereka dapat memahami teks yang dibaca.
