The quality of saliva can have the effect of changingin the environment of oral cavity including teeth, composition of saliva, changes in the growth of plaqueattached to the surface of the tooth. The occurrence of plaque buildup is the beginning of several diseases of the oral cavity with caries and periodontal disease. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the growth of dental plaque and salivary quality, in terms of salivary flow rate and salivary viscosity in elderly children 6-9 years. This type of research is an observational analytic with cross sectional design. The subject of this study is the amount of 70 respondents who examined the salivary flow rate and the saliva viscosity. The technique sampling is purposive sampling. Identification of dental plaque was measured by plague score, salivary flow rate and salivary viscosity were measured by Universal GC. The result showed that 62% of respondents had a plaque score with poor criteria with 57% of respondents having a stream of saliva with slow criteria and 47% of respondents having a salivary viscosity with thick criteria. The results of the analysis using Liniermaka Regression showed that there was a correlation between plaque scores and salivary flow rates with p = 0.037 and viscosity with p = 0.022.Conclusion: there was a relationship between the dental plaquescore and the salivary flow rate and salivary viscosity.
Maintenance of dental and oral hygiene is very important for dental and oral health. The OHIS value can be used as an indicator of dental and oral hygiene. Children with special needs are children who have limitations in one or several abilities. The need for the role of a mother is not a short period so there must be a sense of togetherness in the community to foster togetherness and care for children with special needs, PoskesGi is a forum for Peer Group activities which is a form of community empowerment where the participants are family communities who have children with special needs. The purpose of this study was the influence of the form of peer groups as a means of fostering parental involvement in the maintenance of dental and oral hygiene of children with special needs. The research is descriptive analytic by using a cross sectional study design approach and the sampling technique is the total sampling method. The data analysis method used was statistical calculations using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that there was a significant difference (p, 0.05) between OHIS before and after the involvement of parents in the Peer Group in the family community of Children with Special Needs. The conclusion is that there is an influence of parental involvement in Peer Group activities for the Children with Special Needs community in changing the OHIS value of children with special needs. Keywords: Community Empowerment, PosKesGi, Peer Group, OHIS for children with special needs
Background: Oral health problems are behavioral problems. One of the groups prone to dental and mouth problems is teenagers. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between intention and personal autonomy with the behavior of maintaining oral health in adolescents. Method: This study was an analytic survey study with a cross sectional study approach. The subjects of this study were teenagers at Texmaco Semarang Vocational School, totaling 90 students with a total sampling technique. The research instrument used was a questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out by univariate analysis (frequency distribution) to explain the characteristics and results of each variable and bivariate analysis using the Spearman rank correlation test to see the relationship between the two variables. Result:The results of the study show female respondents have a higher intention/motivation in maintaining dental health compared to male respondents. Female respondents tend to prefer to decide for themselves in relation to dental health care compared to male respondents. Female respondents are better at maintaining dental health, compared to male respondents. Intention and personal autonomy are related to adolescent actions in maintaining dental and oral health with p-value 0.000 <0.05. Conclusion:Behavior has an important role in public health status. Intention
Background : the most common oral health problem experienced by school-age children is dental caries. The cause of oral problems, one of which is the lack of knowledge of the importance of maintaining oral health. Good knowledge of oral health can be pursued through educational activities, such as counseling using the media, including electronic media in the form of the gigi.id application. Aim : examined the differences in the effectiveness of counseling with the gigi.id application and video playback on the oral health knowledge of elementary school students. Method :this type of research is a quasi-experimental with a cross sectional approach. The normality test of the data was carried out using Kolmogorov-Smirnov and then analyzed using Pair T-test. The effectiveness between media is compared using One Way Anova. The test was continued using the Independent T-test to determine the difference in effectiveness between pairs of extension methods.Result : there was a significant difference with p0.05 in counseling using the gigi.id application media and using lectures. The results of the different test on video playback media did not show a significant difference. The results of the effectiveness test showed that there was a significant difference between methods with p0.05, which was 0.000.The test of differences in effectiveness between pairs of counseling methods, showed a significant difference with p0.05 in counseling couples with video playback and the application of gigi.id, as well as counseling of the lecture method and application of gigi.id.Conclusion : counseling using the gigi.id application is more effective than video playback in increasing students' dental and oral health knowledge
