Objective:To develop and validate an educational technology focused on prevention of metabolic syndrome among adolescents. Methods:This was methodological research. Using an integrative review, the available publications on the subject were analyzed. Then, this knowledge was used to describe the theoretical content and, with the help of a graphic designer, the art and layout of the pages were developed. In the third phase, the booklet was evaluated and validated by 21 specialists and 39 adolescents. Data collection included three different questionnaires, according to the focus of evaluation of each group of participants, analyzed for reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha) and agreement by Infraclass Correlation Coefficient. Results:The mean score attributed by technical content experts was 91.7%, and the content validity index, measured by experts responses, was 0.98, showing high reliability and agreement. In addition, the level of agreement of the positive responses given by adolescents was 88.4%. Conclusion:the educational booklet has proved to be a valid and reliable tool to be used for promoting adolescent health.
Objective: To analyze the level of stress and its relationship with health risk behaviors among university students. Method: Cross-sectional analytical study carried out at a higher education institution in Picos-PI. A total of 377 students were evaluated for socio-demographic and academic variables, stress profile, sleep quality, alcohol use, smoking habits and level of physical activity. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), version 20.0 was used for data processing and analysis. Results: Sleep quality was poor for 65.3% of the subjects, and sleep disturbances were found in 17.0%. Stress was observed in 68.7% of the sample. Stress was associated with the following variables: gender, time in the institution, poor sleep quality. Conclusion: Most of the students evaluated present some level of stress associated with poor sleep quality, which is a risk to the quality of life of these individuals.
Objectives: to map methods and devices used to assess very short-, short-, medium-, and long-term pressure variability in adults with type 1 or 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: scoping review conducted in January and February 2021 in MEDLINE, Web of Science, CINAHL, LILACS, PubMed, and Embase databases. Studies conducted within the last ten years analyzing pressure variability in adult and older patients with diabetes mellitus type 1 or 2 were included. Studies that used discontinued devices were excluded. Results: the sample was composed of 25 articles published since 2017, with the majority developed in Japan (n=11); with the predominance of the oscillometric method (n=22); the most used devices were from the Omron® brand (n=14); the most detected type was long-term variability (n=10). Conclusions: we observed the increasing application of the oscillometric method for pressure variability analysis with various brands and models of automatic devices.
