Students become very vulnerable groups dragged down by the flow of religious radicalism. The age is still very young and still unstable with a burning spirit, and longing to practice religion more kāffah (comprehensive) making young groups including Muslim students in high school will be the most vulnerable social groups infiltrated and targeted by radical groups preach religious understanding and attitudes that are rigid and tend to be superficial. On the other hand, religious liberalism at the same time has also begun to infiltrate some young people, including Muslim students in high school. So it is necessary, a strategy to instill moderate Islamic values into students by utilizing the teaching and learning activities of Islamic Education in the classroom. This is because the main actors who are perpetrators of violence, anarchistic actions in religious conflict with religious backgrounds are groups affiliated to Islam. So that inevitably, Islamic Education has moral and social responsibility to help find a way out.
To realize the vision of national development, namely to realize a society of noble character, morality, ethics, culture and civilization based on the Pancasila philosophy, the national education system must be the main focus that must be addressed. Based on the functions and objectives of national education, it is clear that education at every level must be organized systematically to achieve that goal. This concerns the reality of education in educational units from early childhood education to tertiary education which is currently experiencing fading and degradation in terms of forming the character of its students. All of this is due to the absence of a learning system focused on the direction of the formation of superior character values. Keywords:education, character education, youth and the future of the nation Untuk mewujudkan visi pembangunan nasional, yaitu mewujudkan masyarakat berakhlak mulia, bermoral, beretika, berbudaya dan beradab berdasarkan falsafah Pancasila, maka sistem pendidikan nasional harus menjadi fokus utama yang harus dibenahi. Berdasarkan fungsi dan tujuan pendidikan nasional, jelas bahwa pendidikan di setiap jenjang, harus diselenggarakan secara sistematis guna mencapai tujuan tersebut. Hal ini menyangkut realitas pendidikan di dalam satuan pendidikan dari pendidikan usia dini sampai perguruan tinggi yang saat ini mengalami pemudaran dan degradasi dalam hal pembentukan karakter peserta didiknya. This study offers a constructive-critical paradigm as an effort to develop Islamic education in Muhammadiyah and Nahdatul Ulama. Development of Islamic education paradigm of Muhammadiyah and Nahdatul Ulama whose goal ultimately directs the learners into pious human beings to God. Freedom here is limited by the line of demarcation of the law and the teachings of the Shari'ah that are determined by God in line with the philosophy that underlies human nature. Learners are added by Muslims is a smart, meticulous, and able to think by using the mind well and responsible. Peserta didik didambahkan oleh umat Islam adalah yang cerdas, cermat, dan mampu berfikir dengan menggunakan akalnya dengan baik dan bertanggung jawab. ABSTRACT, This study is part of an academic endeavor to discover a new postulate as part of the development and reformation of Islamic educational thinking. Postmodernism as a mode of contemporary discourse in the social sciences and humanities can serve as the base of thougth in strengthening the epistemology of Islamic education scholarship.
