In economy, driven by innovations, the society is developed by the combination of exchange process and knowledge use in the manufacturing and in other spheres as well. The creation, accumulation and effective use of knowledge play a significant role in this process. One of the most important factors that define the forming of intellectual capital, its development and rational use is professional education. The present article analyzes such categories as capital, intellectual capital, its denomination and classification. The authors highlight continuing education as the fundamental factor establishing intellectual capital and the features of the adult workers in the aspect of education. The present article provides a quick review of several strands of a literature of contemporary Russian and foreign researchers and historical examples of the end of the XIX century that provide evidence in support of the topic. Furthermore, the paper represents calculation of KPIs in education as the key factor that creates intellectual capital. Highlights:One of the key factors that denominates significance and use of intellectual capital is education.Productivity of more educated workers is higher than that one of less educated staff.We highlighted features of continuing professional education which influence the intellectual potential of an experienced worker.It has been proved that real monetary return on higher education considerably differs for men and for women. Thus, continuing education is a key factor influencing the salary, a job attitude, productivity growth and also an economy's ability to develop.
The article deals with issues of shaping such competences for workers of different fields of activity, which can make them competitive in today's economic conditions. Turbulence of economic processes, their digitalization and the necessity to provide a speedy growth can characterize the current stage of the economy development. To form adequate competences it is necessary to pass over from convergent thinking (narrowing the range of opportunities and searching for a single correct answer) to divergent one (shaping complementary mental abilities connected with creative thinking, innovation, imagination and invention). The goal of the research is to prove the necessity and substantiate methods of this passing-over. The research conclusions are connected with explaining the role of further education, which could realize the principle of 'life-long education' and supplement basic competences of the person with professional competences needed 'here and now'. As academic tools for conducting the research the author chose such scientific and specialized methods as system analysis, retrospective analysis and statistic methods of data research.
In the tutorial dedicated to the development of labor potential are considered problems of formation and use of labor potential at various levels (from the individual worker to society as a whole), the realization of the potential of certain population groups (such as women, youth, the elderly and the disabled), the influence of individual components on the development of labor potential (education, health, employment), barriers to the development of labor potential (emotional burnout, mobbing, discrimination); Russian and international experience of development of labor potential.
