Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is one of the important skills that every student has to master it in the 21st century. Discovery learning is a learning model that can be used to train HOTS in the learning process. The purpose of this research is to develop HOTS-based student worksheets with a discovery learning model for trigonometry subjects in the tenth grade and to assess it based on the media assessment, material assessment, and the practical assessment. The subjects of this research are the researcher and some validators, while the objects of this research are 33 students, which consist of X IPA 1 students of SMA Negeri 1 Turi and X IPA students of SMA Islam 3 Sleman 2018/2019 academic year. The result shows that the criteria of the developed student worksheets are very feasible based on the media assessment, material assessment, and practical assessment. The developed student worksheets have an average score of 4.49 from three media validators, 4.39 from three material validators, and 4.33 from 33 students who become the respondent. It explains that the developed student worksheets can be used as an alternative student worksheet during the learning process in the class, which can train the student's HOTS.
Artikel ini membahas tentang dua buah pendekatan pembelajaran matematika. Pendekatan tersebut adalah advance organizer dan discovery learning. Setelah memahami dua pendekatan pembelajaran tersebut diharapkan guru dapat memahami konsep-konsep dan prosedural dalam pembelajaran matematika.
The purpose of this study is to determine the students' mathematical representation ability after applying the Problem Based Learning model, to find out the increase in students' mathematical representation abilities after the problem based learning model was applied to the Pythagorean theorem material and to know that the application of the problem based learning model could improve students' mathematical representation skills on the Pythagorean theorem material. . The design of this research is experimental design with one group pretest posttest model by making 20 students of SMP 7 Ternate City as the sample. Pretest and posttest instruments were used that had met the validity and reliability to obtain data on students' mathematical representation abilities. The analysis test requirements were carried out with the normality test. Data analysis of students' mathematical representation abilities before and after learning with a problem based learning model was carried out descriptively and inferentially. The results showed that: (1) The mathematical representation ability of SMP 7 Ternate City students after applying the Problem Based Learning model to the Pythagorean Theorem material obtained 4 students with satisfactory qualifications, 2 students with sufficient qualifications; 2 students on less qualifications and 12 students on failed qualifications. ( 2) Improved mathematical representation ability of SMP 7 Ternate City students after applying the Problem Based Learning model to the Pythagorean theorem material in moderate interpretation; and (3) The application of the problem based learning model can improve the mathematical representation ability of the students of SMP Negeri 7 Ternate City on the Pythagorean Theorem material.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) mendeskripsikan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa pada materi garis dan sudut melalui pembelajaran dengan pendekatan Open-Ended; 2) mendeskripsikan peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa pada materi garis dan sudut setelah pembelajaran denganpendekatan Open-Ended;3) mengetahui bahwa pendekatan Open-Ended berpengaruh terhadappeningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa pada materi garis dan sudut. Penelitian yang menggunakanmetode penelitian eksperimen semu dengandesain One Group Pretest-Posttest ini menjadikan seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 7 Kota Ternate sebagai populasi dan 20 siswa sebagai sampel. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakanpurposive sampling.Mendapatkan data penelitian ini digunakan teknik tes, observasi dan dokumentasi. Instrumen tes menggunakan 8 butir soal berbentuk essay tentang materi garis dan sudut, observasi menggunakan pedoman observasi. Data kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa yang diperoleh dianalisis secara deskriptif dan inferensial, hasil analisis mengatakan bahwa 1) kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa setelah penerapan pendekatan Open-Ended terdapat 3siswa (15%) dalam kualifikasi gagal, 7siswa (35%) dalam kualifikasi kurang, 4siswa (20%) dalam kualifikasi cukup,3siswa (15%) dengan kualifikasi baikdan 3siswa(15%) dengan kualifikasi memuaskan; 2) peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa dengan interpretasi tinggi5 siswa (25%) dan interpretasi sedang 15 siswa (75%) secara keseluruhan peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa dalam interpretasi sedang; 3) pembelajaran dengan pendekatan Open-Endeddapat memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan penalaran matematis siswa dalam mempelajari materi garis dan sudut. Aspek representasi matematik siswa dapat memberikan gambaran, penterjemahan, pengungkapan, penunjukkan kembali, pelambangan, gagasan, konsep matematik, dan hubungan di antaranya yang termuat dalam suatu konfigurasi, konstruksi, atau situasi masalah tertentu yang ditampilkan oleh siswa dalam bentuk beragam sebagai upaya memperoleh kejelasan makna, menunjukkan pemahamannya, atau mencari solusi dari masalah yang dihadapinya.
