This study explores how the participation of parents on school committees improves student achievement. In decentralized education systems like the one in Indonesia, parents’ participation has become a focal point for improving the quality of education. The data for this study were collected using questionnaires distributed to 250 students in state senior high schools, selected by quota-purposive sampling. The qualitative findings of this research are threefold: most parents participated in student learning only by providing material aspects, such as tuition and books; most parents had a misconception that it was the school that should solely be responsible for the education of their children; busy parents tended to ignore the progress of their children’s learning. In order to create social capital for their children, parents need to be active in the learning process, cooperate with school officials, and get involved in the planning of social activities.
<p><em>The aim of this research is to know the role that carried out by traditional custom’s figure on </em>Sedekah Gunung<strong><em> </em></strong><em>ceremony. The location of this research at Lencoh village, Selo subdistrict, Boyolali regency, for in this location the society preserve the </em>Sedekah Gunung<em> Ceremony. This is qualitative research with phenomenology suty as its approach. Data mining comes from interview with main source data which is traditional custom’s figure, village chief, and the resident of the location. Meanwhile, the other data gatheres by observation and documentation. The snowball samping and purposive sampling are being used in this research. Valitidy data test using source and methods triangulation. The analysis technique using interactive analysis model which is, data collection, data reduction, data presenting dan drawing conclusion. Based on the research the result show that role traditional custom’s figure can be summarized as official duty and the reader of </em>ujub kidungan<em> that is not replace yet and a central role on </em>Sedekah Gunung<em> ceremony. The conclusion of this research is that traditional custom’s figure having a central role on Sedekah Gunung ceremony. Traditional custom’s figure as an agent that has power with series of </em>Sedekah Gunung<em> rituals that been embedded within society.</em></p><p><strong><em>Keywords:</em></strong><em> </em><strong>Sedekah Gunung, <em>Traditional Custom’s Figure</em>, <em>Structuration</em>, <em>Existence.</em></strong></p><p><strong><em><br /></em></strong></p><p><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p>Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui peran yang dilakukan tokoh adat dalam upacara sedekah gunung. Lokasi penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Lencoh Kecamatan Selo Kabupaten Boyolali, dengan alasan sampai saat ini masih mempertahankan dan melestarikan upacara sedekah gunung. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi. Teknik pengumpulan data berasal dari wawancara dengan sumber data utama yaitu tokoh adat, kepala desa, ketua Rt.06 dan warga desa. Sedangkan data lainnya bersumber dari observasi dan dokumentasi. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling dan snowball sampling. Uji validitas data menggunakan trianggulasi sumber dan metode. Teknik analisis menggunakan model analisis data interaktif yakni pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa peran tokoh adat sebagai seksi keresmian dan pembaca ujub kidungan yang belum pernah tergantikan dan merupakan peran sentral dalam upacara sedekah gunung. Simpulan penelitian ini adalah tokoh adat berperan sentral dalam upacara sedekah gunung. Tokoh adat sebagai agen yang memilki kekuasaan dengan rutinitas ritual upacara sedekah gunung yang sudah melekat erat dalam masyarakat.</p><p> </p><p><strong><em><strong>Kata Kunci: Sedekah Gunung, Tokoh Adat, Strukturasi, Eksistensi.</strong><br /></em></strong></p>
<p><em>The high number of indonesian citizen and the lack of employement become one of the factor of the number of unemployed migran wokers till now. Form all the Indonesian’s labor that work in the foregin, most of the were female. One of the intersting aspect is that the change of lifestyle of Foregin Indonesian’s Female Laborer (FIFL) phenomenon when they get back to Indoensia. This research carried out to know the inflence of society perspective to the consumtive lifestyle of former Foregin Indonesian’s Female Laborer (FIFL) in the Ponggok Subdistrict, Blitar Regency that been clasified as barns area of Foregin Indonesian’s Female Laborer in the East Java. This research suing descriptive qualitative and carried out for four moths, form Febuary-June in the 2013. The data collection including interview, observation and documentation, meanwhile the data being analyzed by interactive analysis which include data collection, reduction data, display data and conclusion. The result of this research is show that society perspective about the success rate of former Foregin Indonesian’s Female Laborer support their comsumptive behaviour. In additon, the other factor that support former Foregin Indonesian’s Female Laborer is comsumptive behaviour is that they are still single dan there’s urge to the existence needs in the society.</em></p><p><strong><em>Keywords:</em></strong><em> <strong>Lifestyle, Consumptive, Preception, FIFL.</strong></em></p><p><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p>Tingginya jumlah penduduk Indonesia dan adanya keterbatasan lapangan kerja menjadi salah satu faktor penyebab masih tingginya angka buruh migran sampai saat ini. Dari sekian banyak jumlah buruh migran yang bekerja di luar negeri, sebagian besar adalah wanita. Salah satu yang menarik adalah adanya fenomena perubahan gaya hidup eks-TKW ketika kembali ke tanah air. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh persepsi masyarakat terhadap gaya hidup konsumtif eks-TKW di Kecamatan Ponggok Kabupaten Blitar yang merupakan salah satu daerah lumbung TKW di Jawa Timur. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dan dilakukan selama empat bulan yakni dari bulan Februari-Juni 2013. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi sedangkan teknik analisis data menggunakan analisis interaktif yang meliputi pengumpulan data, reduksi, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi masyarakat tentang standar kesuksesan seseorang mendorong eks-TKW untuk berperilaku koonsumtif. Selain itu, faktor lain yang mendorong eks-TKW memiliki gaya hidup konsumtif adalah status yang masih single dan keinginan terlihat berbeda dari masyarakat desa pada umumnya.</p><p><strong>Kata Kunci: Gaya Hidup, Konsumtif, Persepsi, TKW</strong>.</p>
Purpose of the study: This study aims to reconstruct the concept of a sociology laboratory in learning sociology in high school, as a first step to developing a sociology laboratory that is integrated with sociology learning. Methodology: This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data sources derived from informants, sociology class observations, and lesson plan analysis. While data collection techniques include interviews, observation, and document analysis. Data analysis uses a content analysis approach that seeks to combine research findings with relevant theory analysis. Main findings: The results of the study indicate that the sociology laboratory in learning is an experimental attempt to apply sociological knowledge by involving students so that students have the sensitivity and concern to be critical and be able to solve social problems that occur in society. So far, the concept of developing a sociology laboratory in learning has not been developed on an ongoing basis so that the spirit of scientific sociology has not been fully understood by high school students. Applications of this study: This research is useful for sociology teachers who are interested in developing sociology learning through laboratories to support the achievement of sociology learning objectives, namely students have a critical attitude and are sensitive to various social problems that occur in society. Novelty/Originality of this study: The existence of a sociology laboratory in learning has not been maximally developed in high schools so this study can be used as a theoretical study of the importance of sociology laboratories in sociology learning in high schools.
