Buya HAMKA, a prominent Indonesian Muslim leader, poet, author, historian, and educator, was so instrumental to Indonesian scientific development, especially for the world of Islam in Indonesia. The greatest work of him is his commentary entitled Tafsir al-Azhar. This article explains about the methodology of HAMKA’s interpretation on Qur’anic verses. In the conclusion, Tafsir al-Azhar can be classified as tafsîr bi al-ma’tsûr based on it source, with tahlîlî method because it is begun from Surah al-Fâtihah until Surah al-Nâs, muqârin method for its explanation, and categorized as tafsîr tafshîlî too according to his width exploration in the tafsir. While the feature of his tafsir is dominated by adâbî ijtimâ’î with the beauty of Malayan language related to the social reality in his era. After all, his tafsir is being easy to understand for Indonesian people as the majority reader of it.

Kajian dalam artikel ini berdasarkan studi terhadap beberapa literatur. Tulisan ini juga akan membahas bagaimana peran mujadalah dalam konsep dakwah.

Through social media that is in the hands of humans,anytime and anywhere can do da'wah with various content that can be produced bymad'u in preaching. The development of technology gave birth to an interestingphenomenon in today's social life, namely the rise of global culture and the tendency ofsociety to depend on the media. Da'wah in this millennial era must be able to makegood use of it, especially in the use of new media. If not, it will affect the morals andmorals of the millennial generation, which in fact they are looking for their identity. Inrelation to da'wah, the role of the media is very important and strategic in the deliveryof da'wah. The media is able to access information quickly and knows no boundaries ofspace and time.

Seperti kita ketahui bahwa selalu identik dengan tradisi dan budaya masyarakat atau respon dari mereka tentang Al-Qur’an. Tulisan ini mencoba membahas tentang procotan dan tradisi masyarakat di Kemantren Paciran Lamongan. One of the great thinkers in the contemporary era is Muhammad Syahrur, a Syrian liberal Islamic figure. Through his controversial works, al-Kita>b wa al-Qur’a>n: Qira>’ah Mu’a>shirah, (al-Kitab and al-Qur’an: a Contemporary Reading) Syahrur introduces a new theory of Quranic interpretation, called as the theory of limits. He asserts that the theory of limits is an approach within ijtihad (individual interpretation) to study the muhkama>t verses (clear and direct verses of law) of the Qur’an. The term limit (h}udu>d) used by Syahrur refers to the meaning of “the bounds or restrictions of God which should not be violated, contained in the dynamic, flexible, and elastic domain of ijtihad.â€. By using the descriptive-analytical method, the article is talking about the contribution of the theory of limits in qur’anic interpretation that makes significant contributions to the enhancement of Qur’anic studies.
