The community partnership program (PKM) had done at Sukadamai Village Ujungbatu District Rokan Hulu Regency Riau Province. Most of the Societies work as oil palm factory workers who earn below the average MSE (minimum wage for performance) and lack specific skills to supplement their incomes. For this reason, community empowerment is needed to improve family welfare. This PKM is aimed at housewives in Sukadamai Village. This PKM is implemented in the form of counseling, training, and business assistance. Counseling is given to add partners' insights about fashion and entrepreneurship. Procurement of tools and raw materials is given to support business activities. The fashion training provided was sewing training, pattern design, and embroidery. Business assistance had been carried out in the form of assistance with service promotion, financial records and marketing strategies. The result of this PKM is that women had the expertise to design clothing patterns, sewing, and embroidering and forming UMKM in the fashion sector in Sukadamai Village. AbstrakProgram kemitraan masyarakat (PKM) dilakukan di Desa Sukadamai Kecamatan Ujungbatu Kabupaten Rokan Hulu Provinsi Riau. Sebagaian besar masyarakat di desa ini berprofesi sebagai buruh pabrik sawit yang berpenghasilan dibawah rata-rata UMK (Upah minimum kinerja) dan belum adanya keterampilan (skill) khusus untuk menambah penghasilan. Untuk itu perlu adanya pemberdayaan masayrakat untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan keluarga. Kegiatan pengabdian ini ditujukan untuk ibu-ibu rumah tangga Desa Sukadamai. PKM ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk penyuluhan, pelatihan, dan pendampingan usaha. Penyuluhan yang diberikan untuk menambah wawasan mitra tentang tata busana (fashion) dan kewirausahaan. Pengadaan alat dan bahan baku diberikan untuk mendukung kegiatan usaha. Pelatihan tata busana yang diberikan yaitu pelatihan menjahit, mendesain pola, dan membordir. Pendampingan usaha yang telah dilakukan dalam bentuk bantuan promosi jasa, pencatatan keuangan dan strategi pemasaran. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah ibu-ibu telah memiliki keahlian mendesain pola pakaian, menjahit, dan membordir dan membentuk UMKM bidang tata busana di Desa Sukadamai.
The purpose of this research was to find out the effect of Small Group Discussion technique on students’ speaking skill in narrative text. This research was conducted in March 2019. The sample was the eleventh grade students of Madrasah Aliyah Swasta (MAS) Kepenuhan. The research method was Experimental research, the number of the sample joined in this research was 40 students. The researcher divided them into two classes,the research post-test only design to find out the effect of Small Group Discussion technique toward on students’ speaking skill. According to the test given, the researcher found that the students’ post test in the independent sample T-test was 0.000 smaller than 0.005 with probabilitas 2 tailed, So, 0.000/2 = 0,000 smaller than α = 0.005, or 0,000 < 0.05. So.Ho rejected. The df 38. It could be concluded that Ha accepted and Ho rejected. It means small group discussion had significant effect on students speaking skill in the narrative text at Eleventh grade students of Mas Kepenuhan.
Essay is the most essential part in writing critical essay. It is one of the subjects that learned by English students. CIRC is a method to improve students’ writing ability. Cooperative integrated reading composition (CIRC) was implemented on students’ writing skill through quasi experimental research; post-test only group design. Sample of the research was thirty nine students. Writing test was used to collect the data and analyzed by using independent t-test. The finding was students who were taught by cooperative integrated reading composition (CIRC) had better scores of writing critical essay than those who were taught by small group discussion. It meant that CIRC give an effect toward students to improve their writing skill.
To achieve effectiveness and alignment between the needs and the ability of students, it is necessary to conduct research about the needs of management students in learning English, especially English for Specific Purposes. Before designing the material for language teaching, the teacher needs to understand the nature of the material development and the process that is typically involved if quality materials are to be created. This research was designed as a descriptive qualitative design. In collecting the data, researchers gave questionnaires and interview the first semester of Management students at the University of Pasir Pengaraian. There are 80 students as a sample to conduct this research.
