The use of role-play as a learning method is applied and maximized by teachers to facilitate students in learning English. This study aimed to explore the nursing students’ reflections towards role-play activities in ESP class on what perceptions they have and how they perceive role-play. There are 60 nursing students from English for Specific Purposes (ESP) class at Politeknik Negeri Subang participate in this study. The data were collected via the questionnaire and the focus group discussions with 10 volunteered students. The questionnaire analysis results revealed that most students had learning enthusiasm ẍ=3,55 in learning English using role-play, enjoy role-play as an effective activity ẍ=3,65, and role play can improve their communication skill ẍ=3,59. The data from focus group discussions revealed that the students perceived that role-play is their English needs as nurses, as the encouragement from teachers for students to speak English, and as a means to facilitate them to be communicative in English. The students’ reflections displayed that role-play is certainly suggested and considered appropriate for vocational institutions that need much direct learning for their profession since it entirely supports them to achieve in accomplishing their professional careers.
The condition of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in 2020 characterizing DKI Jakarta, Surabaya, and Yogyakarta Provinces which have a high population density in 2019, necessitates implementing Large-Scale Social Restrictions (LSSR) to control or break the chain of the spread of COVID-19. The LSSR policy that limits community activities, be it business activities, transportation, and the industrial sector, will impact social activities and the environment due to the reduced intensity of community activities. Therefore, this study aimed to determine changes in the carbon monoxide (CO) levels in Jakarta, Surabaya and Yogyakarta during the prepandemic and during the pandemic. The method used is the tropospheric CO concentration extracted from the Sentinel-5P satellite data. The CO data were retrieved and calculated using Google Earth Engine. The COVID-19 pandemic reduced CO level by 19.7%, 14.9%, and 21%, respectively. The paired t-test shows no significant difference from before the COVID-19 pandemic, with a significance of 0.05. The highest pre-pandemic average and total CO concentration levels were 0.042 and 1.0198 mol/m 2 in Yogyakarta, respectively, whereas the lowest during the pandemic were 0.02845 and 0.6828 mol/m 2 in Surabaya. Overall, the three cities have a weak relationship between CO level and precipitation as well as temperatures and CO level.
Introduction: Ischemic stroke has become the leading cause of premature death in the last two decades. The biggest problem in preventing recurrence ischemic stroke is the compliance of the sufferers and the obedient behavior will arise only if they are consistent and have a strong intention. This study aims to determine the effect of behavioral counseling in increasing the intention to prevent recurrent ischemic stroke by using the theory of planned behavior model approach. Methods: Randomized Control Trial was conducted on 64 patients after an ischemic stroke that was managed by a public health center in East Java, Indonesia. Simple random sampling technique was used to take samples in this study. We provided behavioral counseling regarding the prevention of ischemic stroke recurrence to the treatment group using the Behavioral module which was compiled based on the guidelines from the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), while the intention variable was measured using the intention measurement instrument from the TPB Questionaries. The data obtained were then analyzed by using an independent t test. Results: The result revealed that there was a significant difference in the mean value of the intention variable between the control group and the treatment group after the TPB-based behavioral counseling intervention for 1 month (p=0.015). Discussion: The behavioral counseling of TPB-based can be implemented as an alternative way in increasing the sufferers’ intention to prevent recurrence ischemic stroke. Further research in a broader scope is needed to prove the effectiveness of behavioral counseling on the structural values of the Theory of Planned Behavior.
