Microalgae have an important role in supporting the development of aquaculture because it can be used as natural feed. However, its culture requires an expensive cost because of the nutrient media. To reduce the cost, the media can be replaced by using wastewater from white shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) culture. This research was aimed to find out the performance of microalgae (Nannochloropsis sp., Tetraselmis sp. and Dunaliella sp.) cultured on white shrimp wastewater. The performance was measured by the growth, density, and ability to reduce nitrate and phosphate. The experimental design used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design with three treatments and three replications. The treatments were A (Nannochloropsis sp. cultured in white shrimp wastewater), B (Tetraselmis sp. cultured in white shrimp wastewater), and C (Dunaliella sp. cultured in white shrimp wastewater). The density population of Nannochloropsis sp., Tetraselmis sp. and Dunaliella sp. were tested by ANOVA. ANOVA was used to assess the density population of Nannochloropsis sp., Tetraselmis sp., and Dunaliella sp., which was then followed by Duncan's test. The results showed that wastewater from white shrimp aquaculture could be used as a medium culture for Nannochloropsis sp., Tetraselmis sp. and Dunaliella sp. It also maintain good water parameter quality in media. Nannochloropsis sp. was the microalgae that produced the highest density of 34.5 x 104 ind/mL when cultured on waste water from white shrimp culture. Nannochloropsis sp. may also reduce nitrate and phosphate content by up to 76 and 61.37 percent, respectively.
The results of spawning in sangkuriang catfish farming do not always go according to the expected results, as many eggs died before hatcing. Therefore, it is necessary to use spawning hormones which can improve egg quality in order to increase profits in cultivation. This research was aimed to determine the difference on success performance of sangkuriang catfish using HCG, Ovaprim, and Spawnprim. This research used a randomized block design (RAK) with 3 treatments i.e P1 (HCG 500 IU/kg), P2 (Ovaprim 0,5 ml/kg), P3 (Spawnprim 0,5 ml/kg) and 3 groups of repetition i.e K1 (spawning group day-1), K2 (spawning group day-2), and K3 (spawning group day-3). The results of this research showed that using Ovaprim hormone had the highest value than other treatments like on latent time 606±17,78 minutes, egg fertilization percentage 75±2,65%, and egg hatching percentage 69,33±5,69%. Then on egg fecundity and egg diameter showed no significant effect with other treatments.
The purpose of this research was to observe the effect of fermented palm kernel cake as a growth media for Tubifex sp. This research was conducted at the Aquaculture Laboratory, University of Lampung for 50 days. Completely Randomized Design (CDR) with 5 treatments and 3 replicates design is used for this experiment. The treatments are 100% field mud, 25% palm kernel cake :75% field mud, 50% palm kernel cake : 50% field mud, 75% palm kernel cake : 25% field mud, and 100% palm kernel cake. The data were analyzed with analysis of variance (ANOVA) continued with Least Significant Difference (LSD) test. The main parameters measured were Tubifex sp population and biomass as well as water quality parameters: pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, and ammonia. The results showed that fermented palm kernel cake significantly (p<0,05) increase silk worm biomass and population. The best result of this research was found in 50% fermented palm kernel cake and 50% field mud media producing 111.008 ind/m2 and 750,72 gr/m2 of Tubifex sp. Water quality during Tubifex sp were measured at 0,26-0,91 mg/l ammonia, pH 6,14-7,11, temperature 25-28°C, and dissolved oxygen 2,9-3,9 mg/l.
