The achievement motive is a relevant factor for sports success. Many athletes do not achieve success proportional to their potential possibilities precisely because they do not have sufficiently high achievement motive. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between the Big Five personality traits model and achievement motive in athletes. The survey encompassed 301 athletes from the Republic of Srpska. We applied the Big Five Inventory and Achievement Motive Scale. A series of hierarchical regression analysis was used to examine the predictive contribution of personality traits to achievement motive and its components, after removing the impact of demographic variables on achievement motive. The obtained results indicate a significant predictive power of personality traits for achievement motive. The most powerful predictor of the total score of achievement motive was conscientiousness. By observing the components of the achievement motive, conscientiousness proved to be a significant positive predictor of all components of achievement motive. Other personality traits of the Big Five model have proved to be significant predictors of one or more components of achievement motive. The obtained results are important for researchers, in order to better understand achievement motive in sport, but also for sports coaches and selectors deciding on the athletes for competitions.
This study examined the psychometric properties of a Serbian translation of the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale (CAAS ? Serbian Form). Two different studies involving Serbian employed adults were conducted. In the first study (n = 374), the results of confirmatory factor analyses supported the four-factor structure of the scale and it is shown that the overall CAAS score and sub-dimension scores were highly reliable. The second study (n = 270) demonstrated the external validity of the instrument. Correlations with narcissism, career satisfaction, supervisory support, perceived social support, and burnout were consistent with the theoretical expectations and results of previous studies, suggesting good external validity of the instrument. The configural, metric, scalar, and residual measurement invariance of the CAAS ? Serbian Form among two samples were established. It was concluded that the CAAS ? Serbian Form has adequate psychometric properties, and hence could be considered as a reliable and valid instrument for measuring career adaptability of employed adults. Pol pravi značajnu razliku u ukupnom zadovoljstvu poslom, zadovoljstvu platom, napredovanjem, beneficijama, nagrađivanjem i komunikacijom. Starost pravi značajnu razliku u ukupnom zadovoljstvu poslom, zadovoljstvu napredovanjem i nagrađivanjem. Nivo obrazovanja pravi značajnu razliku u zadovoljstvu rukovođenjem i prirodom posla. Dužina radnog staža pravi značajnu razliku u zadovoljstvu napredovanjem i nagrađivanjem.
Unemployment is a stressful experience since it puts a person in an insecure situation and requires various changes in a person
Many studies have reported that motivated teachers put more effort in order to affect the behaviour of their students in the most desirable and positive manner and to transfer appropriate knowledge to their students. The objective of this study was to determine if the Big Five personality traits predict the achievement motive for teachers' work. The sample consisted of 732 teachers (75.4% female) from 25 Bosnia and Herzegovina elementary schools, and the Big Five Inventory and Achievement Motive Scale were used. The results of Regression Analysis show that personality traits explain 31% of the variance of the achievement motive total score. When it comes to components of the achievement motive, the Big Five personality traits explain 8% of the variance in competition with other people, 49% of the variance in persistence in goal achieving, 34% of the variance in goal achievement as a source of satisfaction, and 18% of the variance in orientation towards planning. Conscientiousness is the most powerful predictor of all components of the achievement motive, as well as of the achievement motive total score. Extraversion and openness are significant positive predictors of the following components: competition with other people, persistence in goal achieving and goal achievement as a source of satisfaction, and the total score for the achievement motive. Finally, the obtained results show that teachers' achievement motive has a significant personal background.
