This case report involves an adult patient diagnosed with a rare disease, hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH). We will discuss the patient's clinical presentation, symptoms, and treatment. Due to the rarity of HLH being found in adults, we will break down the essential elements to recognize and diagnose this disease. We present this case to increase physician awareness of HLH occurring in adults. With timely recognition, more patients will be able to receive appropriate treatment, resulting in a decrease in mortality.
DRESS Syndrome without cutaneous manifestation is a rare drug hypersensitivity reaction to memantine. This paper presents a case of drug hypersensitivity reaction to a drug rarely associated with such reactions, followed by a reminder to maintain elevated suspicion for hypersensitivity reactions in unexplained eosinophilia.
Relapsing polychondritis (RP) is a rare autoimmune disorder that has been associated
with various other autoimmune conditions. There have been no reported cases about
any patient with psoriasis who has experienced RP recurrence associated with a
change in biologic therapy. This is only the second case of a patient developing RP or
RP recurrence associated with an Interleukin-17 A inhibitor or Tumor Necrosis Factor
alpha inhibitor cessation. We present this case to increase physician awareness of a
relationship between IL-17 A inhibitor use and the induction of relapsing polychondritis.
In addition, we explore current literature related to IL-17 A inhibitor use in psoriasis.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
