Currently, lecturing dominates higher education as the most frequently used method due to certain conditions in this context. Various methods and techniques have been developed and some research studies have been carried out to help learners avoid being passive listeners in a context where lecturing is frequently used. This study aims to research how listening to different lecture types (informative, narrative and philosophical) by notetaking affects listening comprehension. The study, carried out in the Department of Turkish Language Teaching at the Faculty of Education, Cumhuriyet University, adopts an experimental design with a pretest and posttest. To analyze the data, t-test was carried out using SPSS 18. According to the results of the study, there were higher levels of comprehension for all three lecture types in favour of the participants who took notes while listening to the lectures. It is recommended that learners be trained to acquire active learning, active listening and note-taking skills.
Öz: Bu çalışmanın amacı ilkokul Türkçe ders kitaplarında yer alan metinleri tür ve içerdikleri temalar açısından incelenmektir. Bu doğrultuda Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı tarafından ilkokul Türkçe derslerinde kullanılması uygun görülen metinler doküman analizi yöntemi ile incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla İlkokul Türkçe ders kitaplarında (2014 -2015) yer alan 156 metin araştırma sürecinde incelenmiştir. Metinler araştırmacılar tarafından ayrı ayrı incelenmiş ve ortaya çıkan farklılıklar üzerinde tartışılarak uygun olan tür ve temalarda ortak fikir geliştirilmiştir. Ders kitaplarında bulunan metinlerin yaklaşık %50'sinin hikâye edici, %30'unun şiir ve %20'sinin bilgi verici metinlerden oluştuğu tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda metinlerin içerdikleri temaların bulundukları temalarla genel anlamda tutarlı olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Temalar altında metin içeriklerini incelediğimizde metinlerin hem değer eğitiminde hem akademik bilgilerin öğrenilmesinde kullanılabilecek etkili materyaller olduğu görülmektedir. Değer eğitimi açısından özellikle hikâye edici metinlerin elverişli olduğu, metinlerin hoşgörü, sorumluluk, çalışkanlık, adalet, farklılıklara, saygı, bilimsellik, demokratik değerler ve milli bilinç üzerinde yoğunlaştığı görülmektedir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Türkçe öğretimi, metin türü, tema Examination of Texts in Primary School Turkish Textbooks in Terms of Type and ThemeAbstract: The aim of this study is to investigate primary school Turkish textbooks (1-4) in the text types and themes. Accordingly, texts in primary Turkish textbooks approved for use by the Ministry of Education have been examined by document analysis method. For this purpose, 156 texts in primary school Turkish textbooks have been examined in the research process. Texts in Turkish textbooks have been examined separately by researchers. Their findings have been compared and it has been developed a consensus on the different findings. The findings obtained by document analysis has been discussed in terms of text types and themes. Research results indicate that approximately 50% narrative text, %30 poem and 20% expository text of text in Turkish textbooks. As another result of the study, in general, the theme of the text where they were found to be consistent. Text can be said to be an effective learning materials that can be used in both academic knowledge and values in education. If terms of value education, especially narrative texts are suitable. Narrative texts are focused tolerance, responsibility, sedulity, justice, respect for diversity, being scientific, democracy and national consciousness.
