Purpose The demand for resources for development also increased corporate pressures for sustainability. Consequently, it is necessary for organizations to adopt measures addressing the need to implement a new business model, which allows a management team concerned about the economy and the optimization of resources to make sustainable business models a strategic interest of the organization. The purpose of this paper is to analyze sustainable business models and the applied practices to operationalize them. Design/methodology/approach This study was conducted through a systematic review of the literature to identify the sustainable business models addressed in the literature, and what practices are applied to operationalize these models. Findings The data show that sustainable business models have an approach centered on the direct participation of stakeholders, especially the user, in the process of creating sustainable value. Overall, they offer a high level of technology-based business models that prioritize the use of clean energy, material maximization and energy efficiency, with an emphasis on repair and maintenance rather than on disposal and scheduled obsolescence, as well as an emphasis on natural and renewable processes, the reuse of waste, environmental stewardship, product transformation into technological artefacts for users, and products for services and results. Research limitations/implications The study’s contributions provide a more detailed understanding of sustainable business models and what practices can be adopted by companies to make the business truly sustainable. This paper contributed to the discussion of the research on sustainable business models and their operational practices. Originality/value The analysis promotes insights into new opportunities for companies to integrate their traditional business models with sustainability, contributing to the application of sustainable practices within the managerial scope. Companies that operate sustainable business models need to be aware that collaborative, sharing and networking models can deliver positive results for sustainable business models.
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyze circular business models of Brazilian companies. Design/methodology/approach The authors analyzed 105 business models of adopting companies from the perspective of the circularity of resources. These were classified as analytical sector category, business model design aligned with sustainability, sustainable practices adopted, level of maturity of business models and determinants of the circularity of resources. Findings The results show that companies belonging to the service sector predominate, which, above all, offer the virtualization of processes, sharing, ecological products, socially responsible and emphasis on recycling. Of these, 92.38 percent were already aligned with the sustainability assumptions, which contribute decisively to the operationalization in a circular perspective. Therefore, the materialization of the circular economy (CE) in Brazil is occurring, although there is potential for a stronger engagement with the determinants of the CE, especially in the perspective of the biological cycle and in the short cycles of technical levels. Originality/value In addition, the authors promote advances in the maturity levels of business models to optimize the optimal level, where processes are predictable, critically analyzed and continuously improved.
RESUMOO setor supermercadista demonstra importância para a economia e para o desenvolvimento de diversas regiões brasileiras. Neste contexto, o trabalho tem como objetivo analisar as principais causas da rotatividade em uma rede de supermercados localizado da região Oeste de Santa Catarina no ponto de vista dos funcionários. Os instrumentos para coleta de dados foram primeiramente uma pesquisa documental com as entrevistas de desligamento, seguida por um grupo focal e uma entrevista semiestruturada. A pesquisa documental guiou a elaboração do roteiro para o grupo focal, realizado com funcionários da empresa, bem como, o roteiro da entrevista semiestruturada que foi realizada com a gerente de Recursos Humanos da rede. Para análise dos dados, realizou-se triangulação a partir de categorias pré-estabelecidas com base na literatura pesquisada e extraídas do campo. Para auxiliar na análise das categorias utilizou-se um software estatístico. Concluiu-se que os motivos principais que contribuem para a rotatividade nesta rede de Supermercados são os aspectos relacionados ao bem-estar no trabalho, justiça e equidade, liderança e relacionamento com colegas de trabalho. A partir das conclusões realizaram-se sugestões de melhoria que são apresentadas no decorrer deste artigo. In this context, the objective of this study is to analyze the main causes of turnover in a supermarket chain located in the western area of Santa Catarina from the employees' perspective. The instruments for data collection were primarily a documentary research with shutdown interviews, followed by a focus group and a semi-structured interview. The documentary research guided the focus group script elaboration, carried out with company employees, as well as the semi-structured interview guide conducted with the Human Resources network manager. Data analysis applied consists of triangulation from preestablished categories based on the researched literature and extracted from the field. Statistical software was used to aid analysis. Pensando nas premissas sobre educação fiscal e cidadania, e conhecendo o papel de instituições públicas como a Receita Federal na fiscalização de tributos este surge como parceiro automático no trabalho de educação fiscal nas escolas para promoção da cidadania. Portanto o estudo propôs analisar a percepção dos 50 professores envolvidos no projeto Educação Fiscal e Cidadania de 19 escolas municipais de Chapecó-SC, capacitados pelo NAF com apoio da Receita Federal do Brasil em abril de 2019 para atuarem na implantação do projeto de extensão social sobre Educação Fiscal e Cidadania. Na análise dos dados, foi utilizada a estatística descritiva por meio da análise de gráficos e tabelas, com o propósito de interpretar os dados coletados e compreender a percepção dos respondentes, somados a conhecimentos abordados por outros autores em suas pesquisas. Observou-se com as respostas coletadas o desejo dos participantes de estender o projeto de educação fiscal e cidadania para períodos futuros, sendo que a receptividade e a avaliação dos professores com relação ao projeto foi de boa à ótima, logo facilitará a adesão a projetos que tenham uma periodicidade anual.
Entrepreneurship and strategy have common interests of research and they are close fields of studies; however, it is important to know the boundaries of each research field to preserve the identity of each discipline, as well as to advance in the comprehension of the strategic entrepreneurship domain. This research aims to identify common and distinct themes between entrepreneurship and strategy to understand the boundaries of each discipline, the interfaces between them, as well as contribute to the discussion of the strategic entrepreneurship concept. A scoping literature review was carried out about bibliometric studies on entrepreneurship, strategy, and entrepreneurship and strategy together. From 62 bibliometric studies in entrepreneurship, 18 in strategy, and 22 in entrepreneurship and strategy, a thematic analysis was performed. Entrepreneurship bibliometric resulted in 25 themes, strategy in 9 themes, and 12 in entrepreneurship and strategy together. This research presents a theoretical contribution to the field of research in entrepreneurship, strategy, and strategic entrepreneurship. Comparing the bibliometric studies in each field evidenced what are the themes focused on each discipline. To the concept of strategic entrepreneurship, results of this research contribute to advance in the comprehension of what can be entrepreneurship and what can be strategy in the concept, as the gap of studies. Furthermore, this study provides inputs about contexts of study to strategic entrepreneurship, such as familiar, social, and sustainable ventures.
