Kulon Progo is a regency in the Special Province of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, which has a remarkable potentials to be developed into tourist attractions due to its wealth of natural and cultural resources. The ethno-ecotourism in Kulon Progo is a new form of sustainable tourism development that combines ethno tourism and ecotourism activities. This concept was currently developed by the World Bank which aims to position indigenous communities as the primary stakeholder of tourism development. Downstreaming is a clustering concept to increase the added value of a product by avoiding the sale of primary forms of natural resources. This study aims to identify the potential tourism activities that will emerge in the process of developing natural resource-based products that are processed into new tourism products through the touch of cultural resources. This descriptive-analytical study using the grounded theory approach. There are a number of data collection methods utilised to undertaken this research. The primary data were collected through a systematic observation, key informants, and in-depth interviews. The secondary data were collected through literature study by using tourism and economic surveys in Kulon Progo Regency. Collected data sets were analyzed by employing interactive model analysis, triangulation, and downstream product approaches with three variables: upstream, midstream, and downstream clusters. The findings indicated that the apparent potentials lie on the processing of natural resource-based products such as cocoa, pennywort leaves, palm sugar, dragon fruit, coffee, and tea, which can be developed into various types of derivative tourism products. The first cluster is upstream or the exploration phase. The tourism activities formed in it, for instance, are the introduction of the type of vegetation, the methods of planting, and the process of farming. The second cluster is the middle stream or the processing phase. The tourism activities are in the form of a workshop on processing raw materials into finished goods. The last cluster is downstream or the packaging phase. The tourism activities are in the forms of the consumption and packaging as souvenirs of the finished products.
COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on people's lives in all sectors. Adaptation to go through difficult times is needed so that all parties can survive and find solutions to various difficulties experienced. One way that can be done is by motivating others through writing activities. Karen A. Baikie and Kay Wilhelm (2005) found that writing about traumatic, stressful, and emotional events has an impact on improving physical and psychological health in both clinical and non-clinical populations. Besides, miksilva.com also writes that writing can also heal writers and readers from life pressures and feelings of anxiety. This community service focuses on creating educational and inspiring websites, books, and videos to prevent and reduce transmission and anxiety related to COVID-19. The team took the theme "Writing for Healing" (WFH) to create websites and books. On the website, there are menus for Home, About, Story, and Videos. The video produced contains education about COVID-19. From this activity, there were 65 articles collected up to June 14, 2020. The authors came from various cities and regions, including Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Cirebon, Bengkulu, Bogor, South Kalimantan, North Jakarta, Jember, Purbalingga, Lumajang, Tangerang, Bali, Sampang, Batam, Makassar, South Jakarta, etc. These writings were published on the website wfh.sv.ugm.ac.id, and 33 of the best writings were made into a book published by BPP UGM. As for the video, the team has made two videos entitled 'Apa Itu Kenormalan Baru' and 'Stay Happy, Berkawan dengan Pandemi'. The impact given from this program can be seen from the number of writers, readers, website visitors, and video viewers that have been broadcasted on the website and YouTube.
This study attempts to identify the use of listening strategies by technical and vocational college non-English majors, explore the relationship between listening strategies and listening proficiency and investigatethe difference between good and poor learners in the use of listening strategy to provide some pedagogicalimplications for teachers to guide the students to select, manage and adjust their listening strategies effectivelyin order to improve autonomous learning abilities, learning efficiency and English proficiency. The subjects inthe study are 75 first-year vocational college non-English majors from Chengdu Textile College and SV-UGM.First, all the participants took the model listening comprehension test. Second, the participants were given halfan hour to complete the questionnaire after finishing the model test. Thirdly, 10 students from both groups ofparticipants were interviewed individually for further information in the use of listening strategies and alsoexplore the relationship between the students’ listening strategy use. Finally, all the data was collected, andwas processed by SPSS22.0, then was analyzed as answers to the research questions. The result shows thatIndonesian students are more inclined to ask questions for explanation and verification. Furthermore, theyfocus on cooperative learning, which promotes a greater use of learning strategies than individual learning. However, Chinese learners are inclined to study English by themselves and get used to independent study. Theywould ask for help unless they meet some problems which cannot be solved by their own effort.
