TikTok has been widely used by Filipino youths, most especially students, for entertainment purposes in between or after class as pass time activity. Previous studies were already conducted in regards to the positive and negative effect of using TikTok to students’ academic performance. This present study aims to determine if TikTok can predict the level of engagement of students. 103 college students currently enrolled under the Bachelor of Performing Arts at City College of Angeles participated in this study. Independent T-test analysis was performed to examine the difference between gender in terms of TikTok consumption and level of engagement; Pearson correlation coefficient analysis was also used to determine the relationship between TikTok consumption and level of engagement; lastly, Linear regression was utilized to predict the relationship of TikTok consumption to the level of engagement of students. The findings revealed that there is no significant difference between TikTok consumption and level of engagement in terms of gender. Moreover, a significant relationship was observed between TikTok consumption and level of engagement. Finally, TikTok consumption positively predicts the level of engagement of students. In line with this, recommendations were proposed based on the results of this study. This present study offers new standpoint in the smart and responsible use of TikTok application and how it can positively affect the level of engagement of students in a local college setting
This present study aims to determine the relationship between coaching commitment and physical development of student-athletes from various public schools in Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines. Respondents on the study are student-athletes from Senior High School Public Schools from Grade 11 and 12. Descriptive statistics such as Mean and Standard Deviation were used to describe the level of coaching commitment and physical development according to categories, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to determine the relationship between coaching commitment and physical development. The findings revealed that the level of coaching commitment is very high and the level of physical development of the respondents is highly developed. From the correlational analysis, result findings revealed that competition strategies, goal setting, physical training and condition, teamwork, technical skills, and time management were observed to have no significant relationship to caring, character, competence, confidence, and connection of the respondents. On one hand, mental preparation was observed to have a significant negative relationship on caring. Additionally, Personal Rapport/ Negative Personal Rapport were observed to have a significant positive relationship on Caring, Character and Connection.
A descriptive-correlational study which aims to determine the relationship between perfectionism and dance motivation of students learning the art form from selected local colleges in Pampanga, Philippines. DMQ and BTPS were used to gather data from (378) Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) and Bachelor of Performing Arts (BPeA) students. Pearson r analysis result found out that perfectionism has a positive significant relationship to dance motivation of students. Based on the result, this study concludes that perfectionism has a positive outcome to students’ dance motivation in learning the said art form. This study provides new and valuable insight into perfectionism and dance motivation, most specifically in dance research. Limitations of this study is acknowledged and directions for future research is recommended.
A descriptive-exploratory study which aims to explore the different factors that affects students’ interest in Physical Education. The respondents of the study are 1st and 2nd year students taking minor Physical Education 2 and 4 enrolled in the academic year 2019-2020 at City College of Angeles. Simple random sampling was used to gather data from the respondents. A 35-item questionnaire was adapted to be used on the survey. Principle Component Analysis (PCA) was utilized to identify the factors that affects students’ interest towards PE. Based on the results, the following factors were identified: (1) Love for Physical Education, (2) Teacher, (3) Dance Activities, (4) Sports and Physical Fitness, (5) Teacher’s Consideration, (6) Climate and Facilities and (7) Teacher as an Instructional Material as factors which can affect the interest of students towards PE. From the results, recommendations were provided to teachers and for future research directions. Limitations of this study is acknowledged.
Background and Study Aim. A worldwide consensus exists that students' levels of interest strongly predict and trigger their engagement in various activities, particularly those that promote physical culture. Academic works in the field of Physical Education have demonstrated that students can be extremely engaged when they are exposed to situations that pique their interest. However, the relationship and influence of students’ individual interests on their engagement in school have not yet been documented further. Hence, conducting an investigation should be performed. Materials and Methods. The current research endeavors to identify any discernible gender differences in students' individual interests and school engagement levels. In addition, the initiative intends to use an analysis of the relationship between individual interest and school engagement as a foundation for promoting a healthy and active campus community. Undergraduate students in their 1st- and 2nd-year who are enrolled in Physical Education 1 and Physical Education 3 courses during the 1st Semester of the Academic year 2022-2023 are the participants in the study. Participants were selected via Purposive and Convenience Sampling Techniques. The data for this study was collected through a Google forms-based online survey. Additionally, the published English version of the Students’ Individual Interest in Physical Education questionnaire and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale for Students (UWES-9S) were adopted to gather data from the respondents. In order to examine the difference between individual interest and school engagement according to gender, Independent Samples T-Test was performed. Spearman Rho’s and Multiple Regression Analysis examined the relationship between the two variables. Results. After obtaining data from 1072 university students [(Nmale = 456(42.5%), Nfemale = 616(57.5%)], it was found that no significant variance was observed concerning individual interest and school engagement based on gender. Additionally, a positive and significant association was observed between individual interest and school engagement. Lastly, it was also found that individual interest, alongside its three factors, predicts school engagement. Conclusions. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that students’ individual interests have a direct and beneficial influence on their level of school engagement. This investigation was conducted to fully communicate physical culture to students in order to improve their overall well-being. Based on the findings, recommendations for the future research direction and physical education teachers have been produced as a result of this investigation.
