Photoelasticity permits measurement of the axial stress distribution in optical bers and ber preforms of arbitrary cross section. Determination of other components of stress tensor is possible only with the use of additional information. The aim of this publication is to develop an algorithm for reconstructing stresses in circular waveguides based on the thermoelasticity model. Thus, it is assumed that there exists a temperature eld T(x, y, z), which causes a stress eld, equal to the stress pattern. The algorithm of reconstruction of stresses in ber gratings is presented in the frame of nonhomogeneous elasticity.
ARTICLE HISTORY
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
