Measurements have been made of the total neutron cross section of 241Pu over the energy ranges of 0.025 eV to 0.75 eV and 13.8 eV to 1000 eV, using a specimen of PuO2 powder and one of Pu–Al alloy. The 241Pu content of the plutonium was 80%. The specimen thickness was known to 2%. The measurements were made with the B.N.L.–A.E.C.L. chopper at C.R.N.L., using resolutions up to 0.02 μsec/m. The results are given in graphical form. Resonance parameters are given for the region from 12 eV to 32 eV. When these parameters are used with the single-level Breit–Wigner formula a reasonable fit to the data is obtained.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
