The purpose of this study was to describe how to implement the REACT strategy to develop students’ mathematical representation, reasoning, and disposition ability. This research was a descriptive study with a qualitative approach. The subject of this study was grade 8 junior high school student in Bandung. Data collection techniques in this study with observations, interviews, and documentation. Based on data analysis results, it could be concluded that REACT strategies can be applied to develop a mathematical representation, reasoning, and disposition ability that engages students actively. Implementation of the REACT strategy runs smoothly and gets enthusiastic responses from students. The application of REACT strategies should be undertaken sustainably so that the learning objectives can be achieved by integrating various mathematical skills that were capable.
Matematika merupakan salah satu bahasa yang juga dapat digunakan dalam berkomunikasi selain bahasanya sendiri. Komunikasi merupakan kemampuan untuk menggunakan bahasa matematika untuk mengekspresikan gagasan matematis dan argumen dengan tepat, singkat dan logis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran quantum teaching terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan hasil belajar siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Banjarmasin. Metode penelitian adalah eksperimen. Populasi penelitian adalah semua siswa kelas XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Banjarmasin, dengan teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan purposive random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik dokumentasi dan tes. Teknik analisis data menggunakan rata-rata, uji normalitas, uji homogenitas, dan uji beda. Hasil penelitian menujukkan bahwa (1) kemampuan komunikasi matematis dan hasil belajar siswa dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran quantum teaching menunjukkan hasil yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran langsung, (2) model pembelajaran quantum teaching berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis maupun hasil belajar siswa dibandingkan model pembelajaran langsung di kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Banjarmasin tahun pelajaran 2013-2014, dan (3) model pembelajaran quantum teaching berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan komunikasi matematis untuk setiap aspek yang diteliti dibandingkan model pembelajaran langsung di kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Banjarmasin tahun pelajaran 2013-2014. Mathematics is one of the sciences that can improve thinking skills and contribute to solving daily problems as well as the world of work. Some compulsory subjects in the Computer Science Education study program are in the field of mathematics. Also, one of the important things for students of Computer Science Education is programming ability. This fact underlined the purpose of this research. This study aims to examine whether there is a relationship between mathematical ability and programming ability of students of Computer Science Education. It employed a survey method with a correlational approach. The subject was 132 students of Computer Science Education. The technique sampling was a purposive random sampling. The quantitative data used to see the relationships were students' basic mathematics (BM) and basic programming (BP) data. The data was processed with IBM SPSS Statistics 25. Several previous studies revealed a relationship between these abilities descriptively. The difference with this research was quantitative testing the relationship between mathematical ability and programming ability. The finding of this study was that the average BM and BP scores of students have very small differences, which were 63.72 and 63.94. It can be concluded that there was a strong relationship between mathematical ability and programming ability of students of Computer Science Education.
Abstract-This research is a quantitative research, which aims to find a valid and reliable instrument for testing the mathematical reasoning ability for junior high school students. The process of analysis this instrument starting from (1) a literature review, (2) the preparation of the instrument, (3) the teoritical validity, that is testing the readability limited to five students and test the validity by experts, (4) revision, (5) the empirical validity, and (6 ) data analysis. Readability test is applied to five students with the choosen materials. Expert's judgement conducted by two supervisors, three lecturers of mathematics eduction, a junior high school math teacher, and a bahasa lecturer. Empirical validity was done in 9th grade in one of junior high schools in Bandung. The results obtained in the form of mathematical reasoning ability test instruments are valid, each coefficient validity item is more than 0.41 that mean degree of validity was high and very high. The coefficient reliability was 0.64 (more than 0.41) belonging to the high level of reliability. Thus, mathematical reasoning ability test can be said as valid and reliable so that it was classified as good instrument.
