Background: Adolescence is a period of transition or transition from childhood to adulthood which is marked by changes both physically and psychologically, one of the physical changes in adolescents is menstruation. Menstruation occurs as a result of the shedding of the endometrial lining. One of the most common menstrual disorders is dysmenorrhea. Primary dysmenorrhea has an emotional impact, increasing student absenteeism in class, disrupting learning activities and decreasing learning concentration. Primary dysmenorrhea can be overcome by non-pharmacological therapy, one of which is by giving tamarind turmeric drink. Objectives: To determine the effect of tamarind turmeric drink on primary dysmenorrhea in adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 10 Palembang. Methods: This research was a quantitative research with quasy-experimental. The population in this study were 72 respondents who were divided into 2 groups, 36 respondents in the experimental group, 36 respondents in the control group, using simple random sampling technique. The research instrument used the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Results: From the statistical test the median pretest of the experimental group and the control group was the same, namely 5.00 and the median posttest of the experimental group was 1.00 while the median of the posttest of the control group was 3.00. The difference between the pretest and posttest of the experimental group and the control group was the same, namely p value (0.000) <0.05. The difference in the effect of the intervention on the experimental group and the control group p value (0.000) <0.05. Conclusion: There is an effect of giving tamarind turmeric drink to primary dysmenorrhea in adolescent girls at SMA Negeri 10 Palembang.
