Paclitaxel has substantial activity against advanced HIV-associated KS as a single agent, even in patients with pulmonary involvement or who had previously received anthracyclines. Further research is needed to define the optimal treatment schedule and its role vis-a-vis the other available therapies for this disease.
The reported cardiac effects are consistent with anthracycline-related cardiotoxicity. AT is associated with a cardiac risk similar to that of A monotherapy up to a cumulative A dose of 340-380 mg/m2.
Although recognizing that this study has limitations, the results raise the possibility that prolonged residence close to high-voltage power lines, especially early in life, may increase the risk of the development of MPD and LPD later.
In this first comprehensive pooled analysis of childhood leukaemia and distance to power lines, we found a small and imprecise risk for residences < 50 m of 200 + kV lines that was not explained by high magnetic fields. Reasons for the increased risk, found in this and many other studies, remains to be elucidated.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
