Heavy drinkers who consume more than 30 grams of alcohol per day will increase the risk of increasing triglyceride levels. Chronic ethanol metabolism causes disrupted fatty acid oxidation and the transfer of carbon to fat causes an increase in the production of triglycerides in the liver. The excess triglycerides in the liver are then removed from the blood vessels and there is a buildup of triglycerides in the blood vessels and can progress to Coronary Heart Disease (CHD). This study aims to describe the triglyceride levels in alcohol users on Jalan Mendawai, Palangka Raya City. This study uses a descriptive method to describe triglyceride levels in people who use or consume alcohol on Jalan Mendawai, Palangka Raya City. The number of samples obtained were 20 samples and taken using purposive sampling technique, with criteria that are male sex, more than 20 years old, had consumed alcohol more than 5 years, at least 1 time in 1-week consuming alcohol and willing to be sampled. The results showed that only 1 person (5%) had normal triglyceride levels and 19 people (95%) had normal triglyceride levels. Based on the criteria for the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) that is 1 person (5%) had triglyceride levels with ideal criteria, 4 people (20%) included in the criteria for high risk of CHD risk, 7 people (35%) which included high-risk criteria and 8 people (40%) which included very high-risk criteria for CHD.
Aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and Alanine aminotransferase (ALT) are enzymes predominantly found in hepatocytes, the increased activity in the serum shows liver damage. The AST / ALT ratio is used as a marker for alcoholic liver disease. This study aims to determine the effects of long-term alcohol consumption on the risk of alcoholic liver disease. This study was a descriptive study, involving 20 alcoholic drinkers aged 25-45 years, had consumed alcohol> 5 years and consumed alcohol every day. Our results showed a significant increase (p <0.05) in AST and ALT values based on age group, duration of consumption and dose. While the ratio of AST / ALT, a significant increase was found in the age group and period. In alcohol drinkers, the AST value is higher than ALT. The AST / ALT ratio for heavy drinkers is 1.64. Conclusion: Alcohol-consuming subjects in our study, especially heavy drinkers, were suspected of having a risk of alcoholic liver disease because most had an AST / ALT ratio > 1,5.
Fish processing by grilled can produce emissions that contribute to pollutants in the air, which contain toxic chemical compounds that can provide short-term and long-term effects on human health. Some studies report a positive relationship between the amount of exposure to air pollution and the platelet index. The research was conducted on the subject of grilled fish sellers in Palangka Raya (73 respondents) and the control was fish food seller without selling grilled fish (33 respondents). Measurement of platelet indices (MPV, PDW, P-LCR, and PCT) used KX300 Hematology Analyzers. The results showed a significant difference in platelet indices for MPV, PDW and P-LCR parameters in the exposed group compared to controls, with values in the exposed group higher than controls and for PCT parameters, there was no significant difference even though the exposure value was higher than the control. The content of harmful chemical compounds present in the smoke of processing grilled fish can increase platelet activation that can lead to inflammation.
COVID-19 infection regardless of age. It can infect children, adults, and older adults. Children and older adults are high-risk groups of infection. An orphanage where many children live in one place with a high risk of transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Education about prevention of infection and the spread of COVID-19 transmission at Darul Tazkiyah orphanage Palangka Raya was needed. The implementation methods included a pre-test, education about COVID-19, post-test, and submission of calendars containing information on prevention of COVID-19, posters, betel leaf extract hand sanitizers and health protocols banners. A total of 46 orphanage children became respondents. The paired sample t-test showed that p-value (0.000) <0.05. It meant there was a difference between pre-test and post-test results, which meant there was an increasing children's knowledge about prevention of infection and the spread of COVID-19 transmission at Darul Tazkiyah Orphanage, Palangka Raya. Based on the results of the service activities carried out, it showed that providing education can increase children's knowledge about how efforts to prevent transmission of COVID-19, so it is hoped that this increased knowledge can minimize transmission of COVID-19 and help government programs to reduce positive cases of COVID-19 in Palangka Raya in particular.
