An alternative bulk extraction method has been developed for the isolation of sporidesmin from ryecorn cultures ofPithomyces chartarum (Berk. & Curt.) M. B. Ellis. Based on 32 consecutive extractions, an average yield of 165.5 mg sporidesmin-benzene solvate per kg of culture material was achieved, representing a 28-65% increase in yield over previously published results. Furthermore, the extraction process is rapid and can be conducted under normal laboratory conditions without significant loss of sporidesmin through degradation.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
