This research is aimed to find out the Students’s Perception towards the Effectiveness of Speaking for Intermediate Subject to Support their Speaking Skill of English Department Students in Makassar Muhammadiyah University. This research was descriptive qualitative. The population were 20 students at the third semester. The instrument used observation and interview.As a result on the findings, the students gave the positive perception toward the implementation of speaking for intermediate subject to measure the effectiveness of speaking for intermediate subject to support their speaking skill. However, the students claimed that they have got many advantages during the implementation of speaking for intermediate subject. This research also found out that this strategy also needed to be improved by the lecturers in terms of giving instruction, observing the class and evaluating the implementation of speaking for intermediate subject.
The objective of the research was to find out whether or not the used of digital storytelling can improve students’ speaking fluency at SMA Muhammadiyah 9 Makassar. The researcher used a purposive sampling method and took only class XII the sample of the research which consisted of 37 students. In addition the researcher applied an instrument of the research namely oral test. In pre-test and post-tes the researcher gave topics through digital storytelling to stimulate the students to speak in front of the class. In pre-test and pos-test the students one by one to speak face to face with the researcher in the class.Based on the result of the data analysis it was found that the mean score of pre-test was 3.45 and the mean score of post-test 4.54. by applying the level of significance 0.05 with the degreeof fredom (df) = 37 - 1 = 36, it was found that the result of t-test was 10.33 which was greater that t-table value 1.688. It mean that the alternative hypothesis was accepted and Null hypothesis was rejected. It could be conducted that digital storytelling materials was significant effect toward students speaking fluency through asking and answer question.
This study aims to know the socio-cultural aspects of the discourse kada to minaa Toraja in the formation of the character of learners. This research method is qualitative with an ethnographic design. The data analysis technique in this study is Ethnographic Research Cycle. The results of this study showed that the socio-cultural aspects of kada to minaa Toraja discourse in the formation of the character of learners are: First, the aspect of politeness value in kada to minaa, namely Mekatabe' londong lako to disa'bu' gayang ma'pampang ma'paran-paran. Second, the religious aspect of kada to minaa "Di posulo sulo lalan di pobia' kalambanan." Third, aspects of social practice or habits/rituals contained in kada to minaa, namely "Laku olapa umbating lakulomban pamario." Fourth, aspects of family values in the expression "Totiumba' Batu Rupanna tama Tandung Kalonaran." Fifth, aspects of the value of humility in kada to minaa "Tang lara'ba pa te riu laku lessa', tangmaupu' pa' te umpalumba' sangpatikan anna bisara." Sixth, the religious aspect of kada to minaa speech is "Antan Tundan tongan mora Puang dimatua dao masua anggana to palulungan dao pataralayukna."
The objective of the research was to discover whether or not the theme-based teaching improve students’ vocabulary in speaking skill. This research was in quantitative design. The population of this research was 100 students in MTS Muhammadiyah Lempangan Gowa at VII grade. By applying simple random sampling technique, the sample of this research was 30 students of class VII-A. Research instruments used for collecting the data were pretests and posttest. The research was done in two cycles. The pretest consisted of six questions. The post test 1 consisted of one question with theme “school”. The post test 2 consisted of the similar instruction as the prior test but modified with pictures. The results of the research showed that the students' vocabulary mastery in speaking skill increased significantly. In pretest, there were only 14 students fulfill the KKM which was 70. The mean score of pretest was 68.3. In cycle 1, the mean score kept improving to 73.05 came from 21 students. In cycle 2, the mean score rose to 79.56 resulted from 24 students. There was 4 student left who did not pass the KKM.
This pre-experimental research aimed at finding out whether or not the use of Random Text Strategy is effective to improve the students’ literal and interpretative reading comprehension at the 7th grade Students of SMPS Ahlu Shuffah Muhammadiyah, Bantaeng Regency, Province of South Sulawesi. The sample of this research was the 7th grade Students of SMPS Ahlu Shuffah Muhammadiyah.The researcher used purposive sampling method because that class was able to fulfill the rules and they had the characteristics that the researcher wants. Hence, the researcher want to overcome the students’ problem in reading and improve their reading skill through the use of random text strategy then the researcher chose the class with the low English learning achievement compared with the others classes especially for their reading skill and find out the effectiveness of this strategy. The findings of this research shown that there is a significant improvement toward the students’ reading comprehension in the post-test compared with the students score in pre-test. The use of random text strategy is effective to improve the students' literal reading comprehension. It based on the result of the students’ reading test in pre-test compared with the students’ reading test result in post-test.
