The need for environmental literacy in development agenda has been pressing since the UN proposed the agenda of achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). One of the vital aspect of in sustainable development is about waste management to reduce earth’s pollution. Environmental Literacy were considered as one of the few perspectives necessary for SDGs to be achieved. Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), formerly known as Environmental Education, through science education is one way to develop the environmental literacy of the society through classroom activities. One approach that fits closely to this need is STEAM approach. STEAM is a combination of five different disciplines namely Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. This approach has a room for developing students’ environmental literacy within its Arts aspect. Teaching Environmental literacy through STEAM would help students not only learning how to be a scientist or engineer, but also building their scientific awareness to environmental issue, which will be the underlying value of their STEM insight. This study seeks to find the current state of the arts of this concept through a bibliometric research. This research was conducted using the Publish or Perish application to create a database of journal articles, which further managed using Zotero application. After managing the database, this study classified and visualized the database using VOSviewer software. The terms “Environmental Literacy”, “STEAM”, and “waste management” were used to search the relevant published journal article related to all three concepts, as indexed in Google Scholar since 1969 to 2020. This study found only a total of 163 result from Google Scholar Index. Further refinement of the results shows that published research are still scarce in the last 51 years and in need of further study to strengthen the concept. Authors also discuss about several suggestions on how STEAM could be considered as a way to develop students Environmental Literacy on waste management.
Mechanicss is a part of learning in the basic physics course. Mechanics covers kinematics particle and dynamics particle. The materials in mechanics are the topics/ discussion which are related to human being life. Considering the characteristics of the materials in the mechanics, the problem solving ability is urgently needed to coprehend the materials. Based on this consideration, students’ problem solving ability needs to be analyzed to see the extend of the ability posses by the students to ease the learning. The subjects of the research were the natural science students of Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Universitas Lambung Mangkurat, Banjarmasin. The instrument used were a test which was analyzed using the problem solving ability scoring rubric. The results showed that the students’ ability in solving mechanics material in general is good. However, the students commonly missed to check and evaluate the solution so that this step is categorized as less good. Abstrak: Mekanika merupakan bagian dari pembelajaran dalam mata kuliah fisika dasar. Mekanika mencakup kinematika partikel dan dinamika partikel. Pokok bahasan dalam mekanika merupakan suatu bahasan yang sering bersinggungan dengan kehidupan mahasiswa. Melihat karakteristik materi pada mekanika ini maka kemampuan pemecahan masalah sangat diperlukan untuk memahami materi tersebut. Berdasarkan hal tersebut, kemampuan pemecahan masalah mahasiswa perlu untuk dianalisis sejauh mana kemampuan yang sudah dimiliki untuk lebih memudahkan suatu pembelajran. Subjek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa pendidikan IPA FKIP Universitas Lambung Mangkurat Banjarmasin. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes yang kemudian dianalisis menggunakan rubrik penilaian kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Hasil data kemampuan pemecahan masalah berdasarkan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah mahasiswa termasuk kategori baik. Namun mahasiswa sering melewatkan tahapan uji konsistensi dan koherensi serta mengevaluasi solusi sehingga pada tahap tersebut masih tergolong cukup baik. Adanya beberapa tahap yang masih tergolong cukup baik ini dapat terus ditingkatkan dengan membiasakan suatu proses pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada masalah terutama masalah nyata.
Urgensi pendidikan saat ini menjadikan literasi sains sebagai salah satu target capaian pembelajaran sains yang mengedepankan kemampuan berpikir saintifik terkait isu fenomena alam. Target tersebut dapat dicapai dari pengusungan model pembelajaran yang tepat sasaran dalam pengacuan literasi sains sebagai aspek capaian pembelajaran. Model PBL merupakan sebuah model yang potensial terhadap pencapaian kemampuan proses sains siswa. Maka, penelitian ini ditujukan sebagai ulasan literatur mengenai konsep literasi sains serta keterkaitan dengan model PBL. Penelitian ini merupakan studi literatur dengan jenis kualitatif deskritif dengan metode pendataan literatur, deskripsi literatur, serta perbandingan studi literatur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis PBL dinilai ideal menumbuhkan kemampuan proses sains siswa dari proses pemecahan masalah. Potensi model PBL ini juga dinilai cukup strategis dalam penunjangan situasi pembelajaran online. Pendesainan model PBL yang berbasis aktivitas praktikum merupakan inovasi yang dapat guru diterapkan untuk menunjang kemampuan proses sains siswa yang lebih optimal.
Abstrak -Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran anchored instruction terhadap penguasaan konsep dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah Fisika. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen menggunakan dua kelas yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh kelas X MAN 2 Martapura semester genap tahun ajaran 2013/2014. Sampel terdiri atas kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol yang dipilih secara acak. Kelas eksperimen belajar menggunakan anchored instruction dan kelas kontrol belajar menggunakan inkuiri terbimbing. Pembelajaran dilakukan pada materi suhu dan kalor. Data yang didapatkan dianalisis menggunakan multivariate of anova. Pengaruh pembelajaran diuji dengan uji Tukey. Hasil analisis menunjukkan penguasaan konsep dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah Fisika kelas eksperimen lebih baik daripada kelas kontrol. Kata kunci: anchored instruction, penguasaan konsep, kemampuan pemecahan masalah FisikaAbstract -The research goal is to exam the influence of the anchored instruction model on student's conceptual understanding and problem solving ability of Physics. This research is a quasi-experimental study with two samples consist of treatment class and control class. The population of research are second semester X grade students of MAN 2 Martapura in the academic year 2013/2014. The samples consist of treatment class and control class that were randomly selected. The treatment class learned by using anchored instruction, while control class learned by using guided inquiry. The learning materials focused on heat and temperature. The data obtained were analyzed by using multivariate of analysis of variance. The effect of learning were analyzed by Tukey's test. The result showed that student's conceptual understanding and problem solving ability of Physics on treatment class is better than the control class.
Environmental Literacy is considered as one of the few perspectives necessary for SDGs to be achieved. At the same time, the concept of environmental literacy is often discussed with the concept of scientific literacy as basic requirement of environmental literacy. Scientific literacy is defined as the knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts and processes required for personal decision making, participation in civic and cultural affairs, and economic productivity. This study investigated the correlation between students’ environmental literacy and students’ scientific literacy after their scientific literacy has been improved using wetlands-based STEM educational approach. The results shows’ that there is no significant correlation between students’ scientific literacy and environmental literacy (ρ =0.085; sig.=0,519; α=0,05). This study discusses how environmental literacy should be a joint effort between educators from all different fields for it to be cultivated within student’s life.
