Background:Aging is a natural process of accumulation of diverse deleterious change occurring in cells and tissue with advancing age that are responsible for the increased risk of chronic disease as stroke. Background: Intensive Care Unit Acquired Muscle Weakness (ICU-AW) is one of the most important complications occurs in the ICU. ICU-AW is a multifactorial syndrome characterized by generalized muscle weakness. Critical care nurses (CCNs) have an important role in the prevention of ICU-AW through increase mobility and applying of range of motion. Design: A descriptive exploratory design was utilized to achieve aim of this study. Aim: This study aimed to assess factors contributing to acquired muscle weakness among critical ill patients. Setting: the study was carried out in intensive care units of Beni-Suef University Hospital. Subjects: A Purposive sample of seventy five patients admitted in the previous mentioned setting. Tools of data collection were consisted of Patient assessment tool, muscle strength scale and indicators to incidence of ICU-AW and factors contributing to ICU-AW assessment tool. Results: revealed that more than half of the studied patients had ICU-AW. The majority of studied patients who had muscle weakness were older than the Non ICU-AW patients. Application of positioning and range of motion exercises were not done in the ICU-AW patients. Administration of corticosteroid and incidence of malnutrition was higher in the ICU-AW patients than the Non ICU-AW patients. There were no statistically significant relation between incidence of ICU-AW and gender, admission medical diagnosis, administration of parenteral nutrition and application of positioning and walking exercises. Conclusion: More than half of studied patients developed ICU-AW. The contributing factors of ICU-AW are patient age, WBCs level, not applying range of motion and chair sitting exercise to ICU patients, administration of corticosteroid and malnutrition. Recommendations: Further researches are recommended to study extensively the effect of nutritional status on incidence of ICU-AW. Also, examine the incidence of ICU-AW in sedated and unconscious patients.
Background: Women with breast cancer often are treated with some kind of surgery such as a mastectomy which affects moving the shoulder and arm or going about daily activities, like dressing, bathing, and combing hair. Pain and stiffness can cause weakness and limit movement of your arm and shoulder. Exercise can help get movement back. Aim: To investigate the effect of instructional guidelines regarding post-operative activity and mastectomy exercises on breast cancer women's knowledge. Design: A quasi-experimental design was used to accomplish this study (pre/post-test). Setting: The research will be carried out in the Oncology Inpatient and Outpatient clinic at Beni-Suef University Hospital, Egypt. Subject: The study subjects included a convenient sample of 100 women after mastectomy. Tools: Four tools were used Tool 1: Structured interviewing questionnaire: developed by the researchers to assess patient demographic, clinical data, and knowledge, Tool 2: Activities of Daily Living scales, Tool 3: The Pain Disability Index, and Tool 4: Observational checklist. Results: The results revealed that there was a positive significant correlation (P<0.001) between post-mastectomy women's knowledge scores pre and post-instructional guidelines implementation. There were highly significant improvements in post-mastectomy women's knowledge and post-operative activity and mastectomy exercises pre and post-instructional guidelines implementation (P<0.005).

Hospitalization can cause skin breakdown due to medication, food, and mobility changes. COVID-19 a highly infectious disease threatened the world and created a big challenge to healthcare systems and their personnel worldwide. Nurse plays very important role in infection prevention and control, safeguard the community and providing care at this critical time. Aim of this study is evaluate the effect of an education program on nurses' performance regarding COVID-19. Design: A quasiexperimental design was used. Setting: this study was conducted in surgical and obstetric units at Beni-Suef University Hospital. Sample: all nurses (n = 40) working at surgical and obstetric units. Tools: Two tools were used a selfadministered questionnaire to assess knowledge and observational checklist to assess practice. Results: preprogram; the majority of the nurses had unsatisfactory knowledge and practice regarding COVID-19 (87.5% and 90%respectively). A significant improvement was found immediately post-program (90% and 92.5% respectively) while this improvement lowered lightly post three months at follow up (77.5%and 80% respectively). Conclusion: A statistically significant improvement in nurses' performance had got after implementation of the program which confirming the study hypothesis. Recommendation that the necessary of continuous in-service training programs about COVID-19.
