Scientific literacy is the primary goal of learning physics. However, this ability does not need to be carried out well in schools, especially those integrated with local wisdom. Therefore, this study aims to describe the feasibility of South Borneo’s local wisdom-based physics e-modules on renewable energy materials to improve students' scientific literacy. This study uses the ADDIE development model. However, it is still in the ADD stage: Analyze, Design, and Development. Data were collected using an e-module validation instrument emphasising content and construct validity. The validation results show that three experts said that the physics e-module based on local wisdom on renewable energy materials developed is feasible and can be used as a reference for physical libraries to improve students' scientific literacy.
Teaching scientific literacy in schools is not easy, even though it is needed in education in the industrial era 4.0. This study aims to analyze the level of students' scientific literacy skills and their obstacles in school. This research was conducted on tenth graders at two Banjarmasin High Schools, namely SMA which applied the driving curriculum, and SMA which applied the 2013 curriculum. The number of research samples was 60 students who were taken using cluster random sampling. The results of the analysis show students' ability to explain phenomena scientifically, design and evaluate scientific inquiries, and interpret scientific data and evidence in each school in poor criteria (value 40), except to explain phenomena scientifically in group 1 in fairly good criteria (value = 52). The existence of obstacles is believed to interfere with student's ability to understand scientific literacy. These barriers are sourced from students' internal factors (STEM understanding, scientific processes) and are exacerbated by external factors (teachers' STEM literacy, learning atmosphere, infrastructure, assessment, and evaluation).
Based on the unsatisfactory student learning outcomes, so it is necessary to apply a learning method to improve student learning outcomes, the researcher is interested in applying the JIGSAW model. This research is a classroom action research involving 40 students of class V at SDN 84/IV Jambi City. This study uses the research design of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart which consists of three cycles. In each implementation cycle there are three meetings and each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. It is recorded on the initial score of the class average value of 33 with a proportion of 0%. So the research results obtained in the action cycle 1 class average value reached 59 with a total learning completeness of 11 students or 28%. In the action cycle II, the class average value was 69.25 with the total learning completeness of 22 students or 55% and in the action cycle III, the class average value reached 80 with a total learning completeness of 100%. This means that learning in cycle III has fulfilled indicators of success based on the class average value of 80%, so it can be concluded that improving learning using the JIGSAW type cooperative learning model can improve student learning outcomes in class V SDN 84/IV Jambi City.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
