Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menginventarisasi sains asli yang tumbuh dan berkembang dalam suku Malind (Papua) sebagai bahan dalam pengembangan Kurikulum IPA berbasis Etnosains. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di kampung-kampung yang berada diwilayah kabupaten Merauke yang didiami oleh masyarakat suku Malind. Data tentang sains asli pada penelitian ini diperoleh dari hasil observasi dilapangan, partisipan, wawancara mendalam dan dokumentasi selama hasil penelitian, selanjutnya dilakukan triangulasi. Hasil Penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat 11 topik sains asli yang memiiki penjelasan logis secara ilmiah dan dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran IPA SMP. Hasil dari penelitian ini, berupa data tentang sains asli suku Malind dapat dijadikan acuan serta ilustrasi dalam pembelajaran sains di sekolah. Serta dari penelitian ini muncul rekomendasi bagi Kementerian Pendidikan khususnya Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Kabupaten Merauke untuk mengakomodasi sains asli suku Malind agar dapat diintegrasikan dalam pembelajaran sains disekolah.
Di abad 21 kemampuan literasi sains sangat penting dimiliki bagi calon guru. Pentingnya literasi sains karena dapat meningkatkan cara berpikir seseorang yang disebut dengan melek sains, dan dapat menjawab permasalahan zaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan profil kemampuan literasi sains mahasiswa calon guru pendidikan kimia pada aspek pengetahuan di Universitas Musamus. Metode yang digunakan deskriptif kuantitatif. Subyek penelitian adalah mahasiswa pendidikan kimia semester 3 dan 5. Instrumen yang digunakan 18 soal pilihan ganda yang telah divalidasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan literasi sains mahasiswa aspek pengetahuan konten sedang (N-gain 0,37), aspek prosedural rendah (N-gain -0,10) dan aspek epistemic rendah (N-gain 0,24). Secara keseluruhan aspek pengetahuan tergolong rendah (N-gain 0,228). Faktor yang mempengaruhi rendahnya literasi sains diantaranya faktor minat belajar, rasa ingin tau, kebiasan belajar, gaya belajar, minat membaca dan teknik mengajar seorang guru ataupun dosen. Upaya mengatasi rendahnya literasi sains dengan mengajarkan literasi sains secara berkelanjutan menata raung lingkup materi dan merencanakan proses pembelajaran dengan model pembelajaran yang tepat.

Salt hydrolysis is a difficult subject matter for some students, due to the characteristic aspects of chemical concepts and aspects of the learning model. Overcoming the difficulties of these students, one of them uses POGIL (Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning) learning. The POGIL learning model does not direct students in documenting material, so it is accompanied by mind mapping and summary. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences of students’ cognitive learning outcomes in the POGIL learning model by mind-mapping assignment between the students taught using the POGIL learning model with a summary assignment on salt hydrolysis material. This study used a quasi-experimental model with posttest only control group design. The results of this study showed that there were differences in cognitive learning outcomes which shown on the average value of students taught with POGIL learning models accompanied by assignments mind mapping higher compared to students who were taught with the POGIL learning model along with summary assignments.
