The 3p 4D1/2,3/2,5/2,7/20 energy levels in O II were investigated by means of beam-foil excitation and the resultant lifetimes were corrected for cascade effects using the arbitrarily normalized decay curve (ANDC) technique. The results are compared with theoretical calculations, as well as results obtained by other workers.
The construction of a beamfoil target chamber for level lifetime determinations is described. Results obtained for NII and N III levels are compared to values obtained by other authors, as well as theoretical values resulting from Coulomb approximation and previous Hartree-Fock-Slater approximation calculations. Possible explanations of discrepancies in recorded lifetimes are tendered.
A multisource unit and tape machine were employed in the determination of Mg, Mn, P, and B in unashed plant material. The use of working curves from synthetic standards was investigated and found suitable in the case of P. Analysed natural standards were used for obtaining working curves for Mg, Mn, and B. In all cases carbon powder was used as buffer material. The coefficients of variation determined for Mg, Mn, P, and B were 1.44, 4.23, 1 04, and 2 57% respectively.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
