This research aims at describing data for an epidemiological profile, as well as to contribute to the improvement of systems of information, prevention and risk control of accidents in the workplace in processing and further processing broiler plants. In this study, data from documents of 1,274 investigations of typical work accidents were analyzed. Descriptive statistics were used for the analysis, and the frequency and severity of accidents were calculated according to NBR 14280:2001. The results show that men tend to have more accidents than women; 69.8% of those injured had been in the company for less than 3 years; 37% of the accidents were cuts; 35.6% were bruises; the most affected body parts were hands and fingers, representing a total of 48% of all accidents; 41.6% of victims were not using personal protective equipment (PPE) at the time of the accident; the underlying causative condition of 54.9% of the accidents was the lack of personal safety. The proportion for each accident with leave was 1.7 accidents without leave but with a need for relocation of activity and 10.9 accidents without leave without relocation. There were amputation cases among some of those given leave of absence. For every million hours worked, there were 3.2 accidents with leave and 139.4 days of absence were registered. The study concludes that accident rates in in processing and further processing broiler plants are high, and that it is extremely important to establish an epidemiological profile in order to guide prevention and control actions.
RESUMENFundamentos: El objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar las quejas de dolores y la temperatura superficial de la piel en tres sitios corporales localizados en las muñecas y manos (bilateralmente) de trabajadores expuestos a los ambientes artificialmente climatizados para verificar la relación de las quejas de dolor con la temperatura. Métodos: Para la realización del estudio fueron recolectados datos cualitativos con el uso del cuestionario y datos cuantitativos con equipos de monitoreo ambiental y una cámara de detección de radiación infrarroja. El estudio fue realizado con diecinueve trabajadores de un sector de un matadero de pollos. Resultados: Los resultados apuntan que fueron identificadas menores temperaturas superficiales de la piel, alcanzando un valor de 16,67 ºC y fueron evidentes en los dedos de la mano que aseguran el producto, estando de acuerdo con el modelo adaptado de la ISO 11079 tratándose de una condición causadora de dolor. Conclusiones: Podemos concluir que este modelo de negocio, en las circunstancias que se presentan, exponen a los trabajadores a condiciones que pueden causar malestar, dolor, accidentes y enfermedades profesionales relacionadas con la exposición al frío. Este resultado es preocupante debido a su potencial impacto en una mayor cobertura de la salud del trabajador, teniendo en cuenta que las estadísticas oficiales se refieren al crecimiento de este tipo de actividad debido al crecimiento del sector. ABSTRACT Background:The objective of this research was to analyse the complaints about pains and the surface temperature of the skin in three body sites located in the wrists and hands (bilaterally) of workers exposed to artificially conditioned environment to verify the relationship of pain complaints with the temperature. Methods: To conduct the study qualitative data were collected using a questionnaire and quantitative data using environmental monitoring equipment and an infrared radiation detecting camera. The study was carried out with nineteen workers in a chicken slaughterhouse sector. Results:The results indicate that the lower surface temperatures of the skin reached 16,67 ºC, were highlighted on the fingers that hold the product, considered according to the adapted model of ISO 11079 as a condition causing pain. Conclusion: Therefore, it can be concluded that this business model, under the presented circumstances, expose workers to conditions that may cause discomfort, pain, accidents and occupational diseases related to exposure to cold. This result is worrying due to its potential impact on the worker's health and greater coverage, considering that that official statistics refer to the growth of this type of activity due to the sector's expansion.
Resumo: O objetivo do estudo foi analisar os resultados de imagens termográficas da superfície da pele de partes do corpo de trabalhadores expostos a atividades com baixas temperaturas em um setor de cortes de frangos e comparar com os limites de tolerância das leis e normas regulamentadoras de saúde e segurança nacionais. Foram realizadas avaliações termográficas nas mãos e pés dos trabalhadores e avaliações na sala de trabalho conforme determina as normas regulamentadoras. As avaliações demonstram que os resultados ambientais atendem aos requisitos legais das normativas brasileiras de saúde e segurança, porém foram encontradas temperaturas nos dedos dos pés e das mãos que comparados aos parâmetros fisiológicos demostram condições que podem causar desconforto por resfriamento, dormência, dor, disfunções neuromusculares, surgimento de lesões e doenças provocadas por baixas temperaturas. Conclui-se que as leis e normas nacionais para a exposição ao frio determinam critérios insuficientes para manter o controle e preservação da saúde e integridade de pessoas em atividades com exposição a baixas temperaturas, resultando em implicações práticas de avaliação e de controle da exposição aos riscos.Palavras-chave: Temografia. Abstract:The objective of the study was to analyze the results of thermographic images of the skin surface of parts of the body of workers exposed to low temperature activities in a sector of cuts of chickens and to compare with the limits of tolerance of the laws and norms regulating health and safety national authorities. Thermographic evaluations were performed on the hands and feet of workers and evaluations in the work room as determined by regulatory standards. The evaluations demonstrate that the environmental results meet the legal requirements of the Brazilian health and safety regulations, but temperatures on the toes and hands were found that, compared to the physiological parameters, show conditions that can cause discomfort due to cooling, numbness, pain, neuromuscular dysfunctions, onset of lesions and diseases caused by low temperatures. It is concluded that national laws and regulations for exposure to cold determine insufficient criteria to maintain the control and preservation of the health and integrity of people in activities with exposure to low temperatures, resulting in practical implications for the assessment and control of exposure to risks.
