The 21st history of the Qur`an sees the scripture’s contiguity with the social media technology. This paper discusses the hermeneutical configuration of the Qur`an commentary in social media, not as religious phenomena in sociological or anthropological perspective, but rather as a study of the history of exegesis. The inquiry addresses two points: the character of the Qur’an commentary presented in Facebook within the context of the modern Qur’anic commentary and the effects it carries out. The paper suggests that digital hermeneutics emerges as the step forward for popularizing commentary with its simple and straightforward presentation. Accordingly, people are now closer to Qur`anic interpretation than ever before, and therefore the upsurge of semantic function of the Qur`an is observed. At the same time, digital hermeneutics marks the phenomena of equality and democratization of participation in hermeneutical activity and the challenge on authority.[Sejarah Al-Quran abad ke-21 ditandai dengan perkawinan kitab suci ini dengan teknologi sosial media. Paper ini mendiskusikan bangunan hermeneutis tafsir Al-Quran di sosial media, bukan sebagai fenomena keberagamaan dalam nuansa sosiologis dan antropologis, melainkan sebagai studi sejarah tafsir. Ada dua hal yang dikaji: tentang karakter tafsir Al-Quran yang muncul di Facebook dalam konteks tafsir modern dan pengaruh yang dimunculkannya. Diskusi ini menyimpulkan bahwa digital hermeneutics muncul sebagai kelanjutan dari tafsir populer dengan penampilannya yang sederhana dan lugas. Abstrak: Amin Abdullah memperkenalkan paradigma Integrasi-Interkoneksi dalam tubuh UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta dalam rangka merevolusi kajian akademik dalam studi Islam. Sifat utama dari paradigma ini adalah keterbukaannya terhadap pendekatanpendekatan yang berada di luar studi Islam, yaitu dari pendekatan ilmu sosial-humaniora dari Barat. Artikel ini berupaya melihat penggunaan paradigma Integrasi-Interkoneksi di UIN Sunan Kalijaga melalui disertasi-disertasi hadis. Menggunakan analisis metodologis, ditemukan sembilan dari empat belas disertasi yang dibahas telah melibatkan objek formal yang berasal dari tradisi keilmuan sosial yang berkembang di Barat semenjak abad ke-18. Amin Abdullah introduced integrative-interconnective paradigm in State IslamicUniversity Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta in order to develop Islamic studies. The main character of this paradigm is the willingness to consider the visibility of various approaches form outside conventional Islamic sciences, mainly from social and humanistic approaches. This article intend to see the application of integrativeinterconnective paradigm in UIN Sunan Kalijaga through the doctoral disertation on hadith studies. Analysing the methodological aspect of the disertations, the article ends up to a notion that integrative-interconnective paradigm is reflected within nine of fourteen dissertation under discussion.
The history of contemporary exegesis sees the integration between the Quran and exegesis and social media. A statistic shows the low reading rates of Indonesians while the reading activity is dominated by social media. It leads to an assumption that the social media exegesis is the one people read nowadays. This paper takes this phenomena into account within two main concerns: (1) how is the different ways people use their social media account for the Quran related content, and (2) how is the notion of the social media exegesis as a contemporary exegesis? The article ends to the conclusion that there are at least three different shapes of the social media exegesis: textual, contextual, and tafsīr `ilmī. It marks the rise of semantic function of the Quran among the people and the shift of authority of exegesis. There are three causes for it: the platform of social media, the availability of the Quran translation, and the paradigm of al-rujū` ilā al-qur`ān wa al-sunnah.
Abstrak: Paradigma Integrasi-interkoneksi meniscayakan penggunaan pendekatan-pendekatan baru dalam studi Islam, termasuk studi al-Qur'an. Semiotika adalah salah satu pendekatan modern dan post-modern yang belakangan digemari. Artikel ini berniat melihat prinsip-prinsip semiotika dan bagaimana contoh penerapannya dalam studi al-Qur'an. Pendekatan ini dipandang bisa memberikan perkembangan bagi teori Asma' al-Qur'an yang sejauh ini terlihat stagnan. Pendekatan ini berpotensi membawa teori tersebut ke arah yang lebih progresif, yaitu sebagai self-identity al-Qur'an.Integrative and Interconnective Paradigm requests the use of several new approahces in Islamic studies, including Qur'anic studies. Semiotics is one of modern and post-modern approaches which has attracted several scholars to come in. This article aims at overviewing the principles of semiotics and how it could benefit Qur'anic studies. This approach is promising to develope one of the classical theory of Asma' alQur'an which so far has been elaborated inadequately. This approach could bring Asma' al-Qur'an to the progressive concept, namely self-identity of the Qur'an.
Warisan Islam Nusantara: Tafsir Al-Qur’an Carakan dan Narasi Reformisme adalah salah satu kontribusi terbaru dalam bidang ini. Buku ini ditulis oleh Siti Mariatul Kiptiyah, alumnus Pascasarjana UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Jurusan Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies, konsentrasi Hermeneutika Al-Qur’an. Buku ini berawal dari tesis penulis yang kemudian mendapatkan penghargaan Nusantara Academic Award (NAA) 2019 yang diselenggarakan oleh Nusantara Institute. Dalam pengantarnya, Sumanto Al Qurtuby, direktur Nusantara Institute, menulis bahwa NAA diadakan sebagai pendorong peneliti-peneliti junior untuk melakukan penelitian serius atas khazanah luhur warisan para leluhur bangsa. Setelah melewati seleksi yang ketat, tesis Siti Mariatul Kiptiyah ini diputuskan untuk mendapatkan penghargaan, dan kemudian diterbitkan oleh eLSA Press pada Maret 2020.
