Total quality management practices in construction industries can be described as the processes or that aligns the business performance strategy to the business processes in the hopes of achieving customer satisfaction and product and services quality. Quality culture conditions are strongly linked with project outcomes and hence, initiatives undertaken should be incorporated to the organizational cultural changes. The aim of the study is to determine the impact of total quality management practices, quality culture and their relationship with the competitiveness of Saudi Arabia contractors. A quantitative research design was adopted to collect data and test hypotheses. A cross-sectional survey method was used to conduct this study. The findings of the study will contribute to both theory and practice. Through the present study, the researcher expects the findings to indicate that total quality management practices meaningfully contributed and related to competitiveness and developing cooperative relationship with customers; practices that are related to the achievement of continuous improvement and in turn, continuous improvement affects quality outcomes
Total Quality Management Practices (TQMP) have been known to promote the performance of firms in terms of services, processes and products to meet customers' expectations. This paper examined the effect of TQMP factors on competitiveness of the construction firms in Saudi Arabia. The data for the study were gathered from managers of five major Saudi construction firms through interview schedules and questionnaires. Correlation and regression analysis were used to study the relationship between TQMP factors and competitiveness. The results of analysis indicated a significant positive relationship between the entire TQMP factors and competitiveness; specifically, between TQM practices and quality culture. The study indicated that construction firms in the country should address all major issues related to TQMP to remain competitive in the face of dynamic globalization, internal competition and threat of new entrants.
Total quality management is basically about continuous organizational success through the employment of customer satisfaction and by basing it on the contribution of all the employees constantly working to enhance processes, services and products. The competitiveness concept has been defined in multitude of ways; in the individual firmâs context, industries context and nationâs context. The aim of the study is to identify the relationship between total quality management practices and contractors competitiveness. In order to achieve the study objective in the present study, a survey conducted. Questionnaires distributed to the contractorâs managers in Saudi Arabia. The findings of the study turn out to be true; the study will contribute to both theory and practice. Through the present study, the researcher expects the findings to shed light on the research conducted hierarchical regression to analyse the relationships amongst different total quality management practices and practices of competitiveness
This study aims to investigate the relationship between Total Quality Management (TQM) practices and quality culture in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The samples comprised 388 samples and data was collected through a questionnaire from the managers of leading construction companies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The respondents were requested to answer self-administered questionnaires, and send their feedback to the researcher, where 5 points rating scale was used to elaborate on varying responses. Additionally, this study employed multiple regression analysis in order to test the relationship between independent variables (TQM practices namely, education and training, customers focus, information and analysis, continuous improvement, process management and top management commitment) and dependent variable (quality culture). The results of this study revealed a positive relationship between education and training and quality culture. In the same path, the results revealed a positive association between customer focus and quality culture and a positive association between information and analysis and quality culture. Additionally, the results also revealed a positive relationship between continuous improvement and quality culture and a positive relationship between process management and quality culture. Finally, the study results showed a positive top management commitment-quality culture relationship. The study provided recommendations and directions for future research.
