The development of modern retail activities in Indonesia is currently experiencing rapid development. The types of retail trade are divided into two, namely modern retail such as supermarkets, hypermarts and minimarkets and others, while traditional retail, namely traditional stalls that are managed privately, may also absorb workers. This research was conducted in Medan City, especially in Medan Helvetia District. This research was conducted to the owners of traditional stalls with the aim of knowing what factors can affect business competition between traditional stalls and modern shops. The Medan Helvetia District area was used as the research location because Helvetia District is one of the sub-districts in Medan City where most of the residents live in the retail business (in this case traditional stalls). The method or approach used in this research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The results obtained are the factors that influence business competition between traditional stalls and modern shops, namely price, location, service and product completeness. The existence of modern shops has no effect on traditional stalls because they pay attention to competitive strategies, namely by paying attention to price, location, service and product completeness.
Latar Belakang : Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh fenomena lakunya produk Scarlett Whitening yang menghasilkan konsumen Scarlett Whitening yang membludak di tengah persaingan ketat industri kosmetik di Indonesia dan banyaknya brand kosmetik baru yang hadir terlebih lagi beberapa tahun terakhir banyak bermunculan brand kosmetik lokal. Tujuan : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh celebrity endors terhadap keputusan pembelian, bagaimana pengaruh brand image terhadap keputusan pembelian, bagaimana pengaruh celebrity endorser dan brand image terhadap keputusan pembelian konsumen Scarlett Whitening Medan. Metode : Bentuk dari penelitian yang dilakukan pada penelitian ini adalah menggunakan jenis kuantitatif dengan pendekatan asosiatif. Hasil : Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa celebrity endorser dan brand image berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap keputusan pembelian. Kesimpulan : Berdasarkan hasil uji determinasi diperoleh hasil bahwa nilai koefisien korelasi (R) sebesar 0,889 (88,9%), dimana nilai koefisien korelasi ini menunjukkan hubungan antara celebrity endorser dan brand image terhadap keputusan pembelian cukup kuat.

This research aims to determine the strategy of business development of patchouli oil farmers in improving economic welfare, to analyzing obstacles or barriers in running the cultivation and production of patchouli oil in central Meranti The district of Pintu Pohan Meranti Toba Samosir Regency. This type of research is descriptive research with a qualitative approach because the research intends to understand what phenomena experienced by the subject of research. The method of determining the area of the research use Purposive technique or deliberate with consideration of Central Meranti is one of the villages that the majority of its citizens still hang the livelihood as a patchouli oil farmer. Data collection methods are obtained from primary data and secondary data where primary data is obtained through interviews with Informans as well as direct observations of the field, and secondary data is obtained from the relevant agencies. The Data obtained is then analyzed using SWOT analysis. The results showed that there were only 2 families that still maintain patchouli oil farming efforts with patterns and strategies to develop this business in a simple way. Patchouli marketing is also do by selling directly due to price fluctuations that happen very often. In addition, the limited information such as the writing and socialization of a patchouli is still very limited from the government to the farmers so that more and more farmers are switching commodities.
This study aims to analyze the effects of training and work motivation on employee performance at PT Bank SUMUT Syariah Sub-Branch Karya Medan. The research method used is quantitative research with an associative approach. The population of this study consisted of 35 employees from PT Bank SUMUT Syariah Sub-Branch Karya Medan. Sampling was conducted using a saturated sample model. Data collection involved the use of primary data obtained through questionnaire distribution, as well as secondary data obtained through literature review. The results of the research indicate that the training variable has an insignificant effect, while motivation has a significant effect on employee performance. Both training and work motivation variables collectively influence employee performance, as evidenced by a strong relationship with an R value of 0.88 or 88%. The Adjusted R Square value reveals that the training and work motivation variables explain 63.1% of the performance variable, while the remaining percentage is influenced by other unexplained variables.
