The background of this research is the phenomenon of Surabaya as one of the Global Green Cities, besides Maanheim from Germany and Zhejiang Province from China, in the "Sustainable City and Human Settlements Award" by the United Nations 2017. This investigation is presented as a continuation of previous research on sustainable green cities through measuring the success rate of environmental innovation. Therefore, the aim of this study is to examine the extent to which environmental in-novation is explained by the dimensions of outcomes and green kampung products. The research method used is an explanative quantitative approach. Furthermore, data collection was carried out using a non-probability sampling with snowball techniques, obtaining 71 respondents. It was more than the planned minimum of 52 samples. Statistical analysis consisted of second-order confirmatory factors which were recorded as sub-structural equation modeling. The results showed that the model developed had a fairly good fit. Meanwhile, the green kampung product dimension with three indicators was declared valid to contribute 93.01%, while the outcomes dimension gave 92.89%. These two dimensions together in the overall complex model were able to measure the green kampung environmental innovation construction by 65.1%. The novelty in this research is the dimensions of the outcomes of the green kampung in the form of appreciation, the values of creativity and innovation of the residents as well as mutual awareness to care for the environment. This is a new determinant of environmental innovation performance, besides products for urban kampung.
The leading kampung in the city of Surabaya has become a self-supporting social entity with a hybrid organizationalfunction. This has made Surabaya one of the Global Green Cities in 2017. These kampungs in Surabaya carry outcommunity empowerment independently in their function to complement or balance the government functions. Theempowerment puts forward social functions based on environmental innovation in creating commercial goals that provide benefits for its members. This study aims to find the determinants of environmental innovation resulting from social empowerment of urban village communities with a qualitative approach. The researcher acts as an instrument withsix sources from five selected leading kampungs: Mangrove Kampung, Bratang Binangun Kampung, Grudo Kampung,Maspati Kampung, and Jambangan Kampung. Data were collected through field observations and document searches forapproximately two months from August to September 2019. The analysis and validation were processed by triangulation, checking group members, and rich descriptions of the essence of environmental innovation in the city of Surabaya.
Education is an effort to improve human resource quality and growth in a country, especially for those who have disabilities. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, in 2020, as many as 5% of Indonesia's population are disabled. Autism is one of the pervasive intellectual disabilities in children that hinders the development of cognitive, language, behavior, communication, and social interaction. In 2019, the work vacancy for the disabled only covers 0.28% of the general job opportunity in Indonesia and further decreased by 0.1% in 2020. Therefore, to improve the human life quality of the disabled, an appropriate education system and facilities that apply Universal Design compliance to their needs were essential. The uses 5 steps of Design Thinking methods consist of Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test methods are hopefully will resolve the problem systematically, in detail, and accurately. The result produced multifunction furnitur by applying FURNURTURE, which stands for Furniture and Nurture, as the design concept. FURNITURE has several functions, namely; an education facility, a therapeutic facility, and storage by applying the Universal Design principle. Hopefully, the design, product, and design principles could stand as a model for other autism educational facilities and services.
