This study is aimed at analyzing the effect of Professional Education and Training for Teachers (PLPG) in improving pedagogic competence and teacher performance. The research used quantitative method through survey approach. The data was taken from 35 respondents using the training exam module and teacher performance instruments. All data were analyzed using software SPSS for Windows release 22.0 through both descriptive and correlation analysis. The result of descriptive analysis of teachers pedagogic competence after taking training test is good (83,74%). Furthermore, Pearson Product Moment Correlation analysis shows that there is a significant negative correlation between these activities and teachers performance obtained (rcount) = -0.590 at 0.000 significance level. The results of the analysis show that teachers need to follow the training to improve their pedagogic competence as well as their performance in teaching and assessing. Since the teachers’ knowledge increases, it will definitely have an impact on their performance at school.
The purpose of this research are to reveal social symbols of money, identify the symbolic meaning of money, and explain the social impact of money among boarding students, as well as disclosed by Weber (1978) seeing money is the most perfect means for economic and social transactions. Various studies relating to the meaning of money that has been done previously did not elaborate in depth about it. This researh used mixed method by using interview technique conducted with 79 college boarding house student, boarding owner, societies, local official goverment as informants of this study, the quetionaries shared for 69 of college boarding students and observation. The result of this research: social symbol of money are life style, clothes, community, boarding house, university, hangout, vehicle, food, and crisis month. The symbolic meaning of money are there is money there is friend, there are no problem cannot be solved by money, money is instrument; (money is an instrument to join a community, to have fun, and to doing mobility), money is god, money is a goal, money is life. Positive impact of money are to make easy to do mobility and to fullfil life necessaries. Negatif impacts of money are having fake friend, causing debt, and conflict. Financial management are saving money on ATM, avoiding buyin unnecessary things, deposite to the owner of boarding house, and scheduling remittances.
This study aimed at analyzing the impact of government policies towards the economy and education of fishermen's children of Minangkabau and Nias ethnics in Padang City. This study used the qualitative method with a case study approach. The main data sources were gathered from structured interview to eight fisherman families and were analyzed thematically using NVivo 10 software as the qualitative analysis instrument. The result of the study discussed four essential themes namely; first, the government policies towards the fisherman had been capable of improving their economy both Minangkabau and Nias ethnics. Second, the economic improvement for Minangkabau ethnics had an impact towards their life proven by the increasing quality of their children's education from the primary level until the higher education level. Third, the economic improvement for Nias ethnics, on the other hand, had no impact at all towards their children's education quality. Fourth, the impact differences regarding the children's education of both ethnics were caused by culture, parents' mindset, and children's' interest in education. According to parents and fishermen’s children of Minangkabau ethnic, education matters a lot for the sake of pursuing a brighter future, while according to parents and fishermen’s children of Nias ethnic, education does not really matter.
Domain origin of Minangkabau is divided into three Luhak known as Luhak Nan Tigo. This region is the center of Minangkabau cultures. The three Luhak are located in West Sumatera. Those areas also have a diversity of ethnicity, religious, and customs. This study aims to formulate the factors which support social integration of Minangkabau community. By using descriptive qualitative approach, the informants of this research are the elements of regional leaders, youth leaders, custom leaders, religious leaders and ordinary citizens. Techniques of data collection was observation, interviews, and documentation. The result of the research found that the strong traditions that still make Minangkabaupeople to feel a unity, their customary laws in Minangkabau region makes the people feel protected and not be afraid to break the rules of the customs. Customary laws become a life principle of social life at the same guidelines with the aim of creating security, discipline and creating a virtuous society and noble characters.
Pemanfaatan Rumah Gadang sebagai tempat penginapan bagi wisatawan terbilang masih baru. Oleh karena itu kesamaan persepsi dan pemahaman, sosialiasi serta pelatihan kepada masyarakat belum terlaksana secara efektif. Tujuan penelitian untuk memberdayakan masyarakat, menjelaskan kendala dan memberikan solusi atas kendala. Metode yang digunakan ialah kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif. Keberadaan Rumah Gadang di Nagari Sijunjung dapat dimanfaatkan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat Nagari Sijunjung. Upaya pemberdayaan masyarakat dengan memaksimalkan potensi kearifan lokal yang dimiliki yakni Rumah Gadang Perkampungan Adat dengan dibantu dan dampingi oleh pemerintah telah dapat menjadi sumber pemasukan secara ekonomi bagi masyarakat yang menghuni Rumah Gadang. Kendala yang masih ditemukan ialah manajemen pengelolaan yang masih belum baik dan fasilitas yang belum maksimal sehingga perlu dilakukan percepatan untuk perbaikan.
